Velineon VXL-6s Electronic Speed Control Recall
We have identified an issue with the VXL-6s Electronic Speed Control that could lead to fire. In cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), we are voluntarily recalling the 3365 VXL-6s Electronic Speed Control (ESC) sold separately or with the X-Maxx 77076-4 to install new firmware and a fusible link in line with the battery connection for the VXL-6S ESC. The firmware improves the performance of the X-Maxx, and the fusible link does not alter the intended performance and speed of the X-Maxx in any way. Your safety is our top priority. We learned of a potential safety issue with the electronic speed control in the Traxxas X-Maxx Monster Trucks purchased by customers between November 2015 and February 2016.

If you installed the bridge connector yourself or if your ESC already has a large red label on the bridge connector, you may still need to update the firmware on your ESC.
Hazard Description:
Traxxas has received some reports that when the electronics are pushed to the point of failure in some extremely rare instances, either by vehicle modification or electronics failures, fire can result.
Traxxas is voluntarily recalling the 3365 VXL-6s Electronic Speed Control (ESC) in the 77076-4 X-Maxx to install new firmware and add a fusible link placed inline in the battery connection for the VXL-6s ESC. The fusible link does not alter the intended performance and speed of the X-Maxx in any way.

To identify if your electronic speed control is affected, enter the serial number from the ESC in the identifier below. The serial number is found on the bottom of the Velineon VXL-6s electronic speed control. If your electronic speed control is affected, select one of the remedy options below.

Remedies:
Consumers may choose to take their X-Maxx truck or ESC to a local Traxxas dealer to have the firmware and fusible link installed at no cost. Use the below link to locate a participating Traxxas dealer near you.
Firmware LocationsIf there is not a participating Traxxas dealer in your area, consumers may choose to send their ESC to Traxxas. Consumers who choose this option will need to remove the electronic speed control from the chassis and fill out the Authorization Form found at the link below. Traxxas will provide a UPS Ground shipping label for returning the ESC only at no cost to you. Do not send the entire truck. The Authorization Form will need to be sent in with the electronic speed control. We will install the new firmware and fusible link and return the ESC back to you.
