TORC Winds Up 2012 in the Southern California High Desert

The Traxxas TORC series finishes out the 2012 season at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster, California on September 29-30.

Southern California race fans will witness TORC’s short-course race trucks fight each other, and the very track itself, to end the year on top.  Championships are up for grabs in all three pro classes, and two of the classes have leaders/runners up within five points of each other. The battle-hardened racers will have to bring their A-games, and a bit of luck to go home with a championship this year!

In PRO 2wd, Traxxas’ Ram/MOPAR driver Rob MacCachren leads the class by four points. Red Bull Ram pilot Bryce Menzies will be doing his utmost to make up those four points and a bit more to repeat his 2011 championship. Expect mayhem, because perennial front-runner Chad Hord is only five points behind Menzies. This one will be hard fought!

In PRO Light, Traxxas’ Ram/MOPAR racer Andrew Caddell trails Brad Lovell by a scant five points. With three Traxxas Maxx Lap fastest-lap awards in 2012, Caddell is always a threat to win. Caddell would like nothing more than to back up his 2011 #1 plate. But to do that, he’ll have to keep Lovell behind him at the finish. Things could get ugly!

The Traxxas/Jenkins Brothers Racing team anticipates ending the season strong. And to do that, they’re bringing EIGHT race trucks to California, each one expertly prepared and driven. Traxxas and JBR expect to win at Antelope Valley. But then, so do the other teams. That sounds like a recipe for some good racing and some great entertainment! And Traxxas is inviting YOU to come out and experience the action.

But wait, there’s more!

SoCal TORC fans will be treated to not just one, but TWO very special races on Sunday. Both are to honor long-time off-road racer Rick Huseman and his brother Jeff who tragically lost their lives earlier this year. Running under the theme of "Run it for Rick", the two feature races are some of the richest in off road racing history.

First, scheduled for 2:30PM the PRO Lights hit the track for the Traxxas Cup in memory of Jeff Huseman.  This end-of-year race pays the winner a cool $15,000! After battling for the season championship in Saturday’s races, the Traxxas Cup is icing on the 2012 cake! And you can bet the PRO Light drivers will pull out all the stops, and all of their tricks, to get their slice.

Then, scheduled for 3:45PM the big dogs hit the track on last time. Both PRO 2wd and PRO 4x4 will contend for the Rick Huseman Cup presented by Peak Performance. And if you thought $15k for the Traxxas Cup was big, this final TORC race of 2012 pays $36,000 to win! This promises to be a knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred BRAWL! Off road racing fans will not want to miss this race. It promises to be one for the ages- the kind of race Rick would have LOVED.

What a way to close a season!

In addition to the action on the high desert short course track, you’ll find plenty to do and see as Traxxas, The Fastest Name in Radio Control, comes to town. Take a test drive on the Try-Me Track, meet the pro drivers, and visit the Traxxas model display. RC owners can bring their Traxxas Slash or Slash 4X4 to compete in our TORC RC Challenge! Fans can bring any other Traxxas vehicle and drive it on the RC track as well! Make sure that if you are in the area you stop by the Traxxas TORC races. If you can’t swing by, stay up-to-date on and the Traxxas Racing Twitter page. We will see you there!
