Traxxas drivers made another great showing in TORC competition as the nation’s premier short-course series returned to Chicagoland’s Route 66 Raceway. The Traxxas Pro Light class took to the track first in what turned out to be the most exciting race of the night if not TORC history. Andrew Caddell (left) brought the crowd to its feet early in the race when he brutally “lawn darted” his Traxxas truck and flipped it end over end. As his no. 43 machine landed on all fours, Caddell mashed the throttle and roared back into the race to cheers from the bleachers. Casey Currie cart-wheeled his truck on the next lap and exited the race, and in an echo of his fireball-flip at Charlotte, Samuel Hubinette rolled his Mopar RAM truck in a burst of flame just before the mid-race yellow. Traxxas’ CJ Greaves (right) battled with rookie RJ Anderson for the lead, until a resurgent Andrew Caddell powered into second place to bump Greaves to third. 17-year-old RJ Anderson went on to his first-ever Pro Light win and took home the $5,000 Traxxas Pro Light check, with Caddell earning $2,500 for his trouble and Greaves pocketing $1,500 for the night. Keegan Kincaid, who finished just off the podium in fourth, earned the $1,000 Maxx Lap award for the fastest lap of the Traxxas Pro Light race.
In Pro 2WD, Traxxas’ Jeff Kincaid put on a master-class demonstration of patience, timing, and sheer skill. Early leader Bryce Menzies fell off the pace with mechanical trouble and gave the lead to Marty Hart, with Chad Hord and Jeff Kincaid in line behind him. At the mid-race restart, Kincaid made his move for second and Hord barrel-rolled through turn one after contact with Mike Oberg. With the race back underway, Kincaid set to work on Hart, and made a daring mid-air pass as he and Hart soared over the tabletop jump. Racing in clear air, Jeff unleashed his Traxxas Pro 2WD to put a comfortable gap on Hart and powered on to the checkers, joined by Marty Hart in second and NASCAR racer Brendan Gaughan in third.
