(05/02/2012) The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series heads to Commerce GA after only a four-day break between races. It’s the seventh race of the 2012 season and every Funny Car team in the pits will be gunning for the John Force Racing Team. They are responsible for winning the first six races in a row. It’s doubtful the JFR teams are worried however; The John Force Racing Team has had great luck at Atlanta Dragway!
Robert Hight is confident after coming off only his second loss of the season. Hight has been in four finals at Atlanta Dragway, winning two of them. John Force was king of Atlanta competing in every final round from 1992 until 2000. He has won seven races and holds the 1000’ track record in Funny Car at Atlanta Dragway, 4.072. Mike Neff, coming off last weeks win in Houston, couldn’t be more confident. He has had one of the most consistent cars in the field at every race thus far this season and goes into Atlanta looking for win number two.
Lets not forget about the Traxxas Funny Car driven by Courtney Force! She comes off a second round loss in Houston, however she was able to beat fellow Rookie of the Year candidate Alexis DeJoria in round one. At Atlanta Dragway in 2007, sister Ashley Force beat father John, the first woman to ever do so in Funny Car. In 2008 she would do it again, this time in the final, becoming the first woman to win a NHRA Funny Car event. Courtney hopes that the JFR winning streak, Atlanta luck, big sisters Ashley’s advice, will enable her to put her Traxxas car in the winner circle!
John Force will be inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Talladega AL on Thursday, May 3rd. He will have a special Hall of Fame Edition Funny Car on Display all week. If you have Thursday before the races off, make the trip over to Talladega Super Speedway!
If you plan on being at Atlanta Dragway this weekend, make sure you swing by the Traxxas area. Traxxas will be there with our full line of RC cars, support staff, and mobile hobby store. Fans will have a chance to drive a 1/16 Traxxas rally car, a 1/10 Traxxas Slash, and get to watch our professional RC drivers show the power and strength of the 65mph Brushless E-Revo! If you can’t be there, stay up to date on Facebook.com/TraxxasRacing or the Traxxas Racing Twitter page.
