Mike Jenkins Edition
As the owner of Traxxas, The Fastest Name In Radio Control,® Mike has spent a lifetime around radio-controlled racing cars and trucks, and fulfilled his passion for full-size motorsports with forays into motocross, drag racing, and later, road racing with Corvettes, Miatas and other sports cars. In 2007, Mike and brother Mark began racing the SCCA’s Mazda MX-5 Cup series, which features specially prepared open-roof sportscars with strict “spec” rules that keep the cars very closely matched. In this highly competitive form of sportscar racing, meticulous preparation and precise, consistent driving are critical to success, and are skills that translate to all racing disciplines— including off-road racing.
After a trip to Primm, Nevada for an up-close look at short-course off-road racing, Mike recognized the high-intensity motorsport as the perfect fit for Traxxas, the number-one name in hobby-class radiocontrolled cars and trucks. The over-the-top horsepower, incredible air time and go-for-it driving style of short-course racing was like R/C off-roading gone “full size.” Traxxas quickly signed on to sponsor Pro Light champ Jeff Kincaid, and Mike and Mark formed Jenkins Brothers Racing to field a twotruck Traxxas team of their own, with Mark driving a Pro 2WD truck and Mike climbing into a Pro 4X4 machine.
Despite racing against a field of drivers with far more off-road experience, Mike finished his rookie season with ten top-10 finishes, one top-five, and two third-place podium spots in seventeen starts to become the 2008 Pro-4 Rookie of the Year. In 2009, Traxxas signed on as the title sponsor of TORC, THE Traxxas Off-Road Championship. Mike finished the inaugural TORC season with five top-5 finishes and two visits to the podium. He finished third at the historic Crandon International Raceway, and capped the season with his first TORC-series win in the final round of TORC racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Mark Jenkins Edition
Mark Jenkins launched his motorsports career by winning the first race he entered at the Texas Road Race of Champions in a Spec Miata. After qualifying for the first annual SCCA Run-Offs in his rookie year, Mark decided to compete amongst the professionals in SCCA Pro Racing’s Mazda MX-5 Cup series. Before he began racing Mazdas, Mark enjoyed motorsports only as an enthusiastic spectator, making his rapid rise as a sportscar and off-road racer all the more compelling. The close competition and relatively low horsepower of the open-top Mazdas proved to be excellent training for Mark, as racing success could only be achieved by choosing the fastest lines, conserving tires, maximizing momentum and minimizing mistakes. Mark’s aggressive performance on the MX-5 Cup circuit challenged veteran racers at the top of the field.
In 2008, Mark and Mike tackled an extreme motorsports venture: short-course off-road racing. With brother Mike in a Pro 4X4 truck and Mark competing in a Pro 2WD, the Jenkins brothers plunged into short-course racing, literally full throttle. In sixteen races, Mark finished in the top ten five times, even making the top five. While the focus is on short-course competition, Mark will still be splitting his race time between off-road racing and the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup. In the Playboy series season opener, Mark reached a new milestone in his pro racing career by leading the most laps of the event and posting the fastest individual lap time on the way to a second-place finish. Mark returned to the podium for the final race of the season with a third-place finish, and placed fourth overall in series points. In short-course off-road racing, Mark completed the 2009 TORC Pro-2WD season with six top-10 finishes and placed ninth in series points.
Greg Adler Edition
Greg Adler started his racing career in Baja, California driving limited buggies in the SCORE series. After several years of valuable experience, he jumped into the full-size truck category driving powerful, 800-horsepower Class 8 trucks. The over-the-top power and extreme suspension capability of the Class 8 machines fit Greg well, and made for a smooth transition into the intense world of short-course off-road racing.
Greg entered his first short-course race at Crandon International Raceway in 2004 in a Sportsman truck borrowed from veteran racer Evan Evans. One race was all it took—Greg was hooked! In 2006, Greg completed his first season in the Sportsman division, and capped his rookie year with his first win at Chula Vista International Speedway. In 2007, he made the move to the ultra competitive Pro-2 class. Competing against off-road racing’s most skilled drivers, Greg proved his talent with several podium finishes.
Now racing in the Traxxas TORC (THE Off-Road Championship) series, running up front is business as usual for Greg and his 4 Wheel Parts machine. In the dirt and on the podium, you can count on Greg Adler to bring excitement to the TORC Pro 2WD class.
Scott Douglas Edition
Scott Douglas began his racing career when he and brother Steve purchased an old Ford F-150 race truck off a used car lot in 1980. The Douglas brothers entered it in the Baja 500 and not only finished, but posted a fifth-place finish in Class 8. In 1990, Walker Evans tapped Scott to pilot a factory-backed Jeep® Cherokee. The result was a class championship. Scott then moved to a Dodge® factory ride and won championships in the SCORE, HDRA, and BITD series.
In the mid-1990s, Scott was a dominant force in the Short-Course Off-Road Drivers Association (SODA) series. He moved to Pro 4WD in 1996, winning the championship for Rampage Racing. He repeated the feat in 1997 and also won the BorgWarner® Cup.
In 2006, Scott teamed up with Pro Fab Motorsports and AMSOIL® to win another Borg Warner Cup. 2007 saw numerous wins and a second-place finish overall for the season in Pro 4WD. In 2008, Scott Douglas and Bill Smith of Pro Fab designed and built a new F-150 tuned by chief mechanic Jason Schampers. Scott quickly turned the new truck into a competitive force on the track propelling him into the top 3 in the 2008 point standings.
In 2009, Scott set his sights on the Traxxas Off-Road Championship series (TORC). During the season’s sixteen rounds, Scott climbed the podium nine times, took two wins, and had twelve top-5 finishes. In 2010, TORC brought more climbs onto the box with another 9 podium visits as well as a huge win in Crandon as Scott Douglas took home the big check in the inaugural Amsoil cup.
