Pro-Scale is a new Traxxas innovation that captures true-scale realism and combines it with extreme 6s LiPo power and 50+ mph performance. The Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer faithfully captures the look and feel of Trophy Trucks and Unlimited Trick Trucks as they charge hard across the desert at full speed.
The Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer is engineered on an authentic, true to scale 4-wheel drive desert race truck chassis. The 4-link solid rear axle design provides huge suspension travel with authentic driving dynamics. From the cantilever sway bars to the 8 GTR shocks, Traxxas has accurately reproduced a true unlimited desert race chassis in both form and function.
The 50+ mph Unlimited Desert Racer delivers its pro-level performance with brutal 6s power. The VXL-6s ESC combines massive power handling with high-tech telemetry features. An ultra-tough drivetrain harnesses the extreme power to make it easy to control and fun to drive.
Precision-modeled after a full-scale unlimited desert race truck, the rugged Pro-Scale body is securely mounted to the frame. The open window design showcases the intricate tube frame chassis and detailed interior cockpit. Choose either the Fox® or RIGID® body style to light up the desert with vibrant color!
Aggressive replica BFGoodrich® KR3 tires ride on tough 17mm hex Desert Race wheels (Fox®) or licensed Method® Racing wheels (RIGID®) with bright beadlock rings. The tires are scale replicas of the 40 inch tires used on the top trucks in the desert.
The rugged tube frame chassis is fully-functional and an integral part of the overall unlimited desert race chassis design. The tube frame chassis provides rigid support for shocks, bumpers, and suspension. The design is engineered to help absorb and distribute impacts for the rock-solid durability that is required in the desert.
Realistic chassis side plates (tin work) mount directly to the roll cage for true Pro-Scale™ realism. Functionally, they add structural rigidity and help keep debris out of the cockpit. Remove the body and the desert race chassis looks even more amazing and realistic.
The highly detailed interior with driver figures enhances the realism to the point that you might think you are looking at a real truck while driving. Switches, radios, safety gear, shifter, navigation…it’s all there!
From bumper to bumper, beautiful precision-molded details continue the Pro-Scale™ theme. The replica brake calipers and discs, floor jack with handle, batteries, fans, oil cans, fire extinguishers, and shock reservoirs provide the perfect scale touches.
Like a true desert race truck chassis, two spare wheels and tires are mounted on the rear frame. Identical to the other four, each is fully functional and ready to mount. The spare driveshaft mounted to the frame is not just for looks. It is a functional spare for installation on the truck if needed.
The inverted tub chassis makes service and maintenance easy. Replace batteries without removing the body or drop the entire motor and transmission assembly as a single unit. This innovative design also concentrates weight as low as possible to lower the overall center of gravity (CG) of the truck for superior handling and performance.
Integral to the inverted tub chassis, tough skid plates keep out debris and protect vital vehicle components. The two-piece design includes a separate door for the battery compartment that snaps in and out of position in just seconds.
The versatile battery compartment accommodates single 4s LiPo packs or dual 2s or 3s LiPo packs. A rugged battery strap locks into place to hold even the largest batteries securely. The strap attaches firmly to the frame so there are no clips to lose. View the full list of compatible batteries here.
Fixed battery connectors make battery installation a breeze. The innovative design allows a range of single and dual-battery configurations to be used.
The one-piece body attaches securely to the functional tube frame chassis in multiple locations for long-lasting durability and scale realism. With no body clips to pop off, this armor-tough body allows easy access to the electronic speed control and showcases the highly detailed suspension, cockpit, and tube frame chassis.
Impact absorbing front and rear bumpers soak up the hits to protect the chassis and provide rigid support for the fixed body.
Proper gear mesh is critical with high-torque 6s power systems. A thick aluminum motor plate with reliable fixed-pin gear mesh settings are used for perfect alignment.
Built for the rigors of desert racing, fixed-length steering links are mounted to dual bellcranks with an integrated servo saver for precise, reliable steering.
The Unlimited Desert Racer rides on a solid rear axle with a spool for supreme toughness and authentic driving dynamics. Large diameter steel half shafts provide extra durability out to the wheels.
Heavy-duty steel CV driveshafts with steel 6mm stub axles drive the front wheels from the front differential.
A heavy-duty, splined driveshaft channels power to the front differential while rear power is transferred via a fixed-length aluminum and steel driveshaft. The realistic fixed-length driveshaft provides superior strength, reduces driveline lash, and lowers rotational mass for improved response.
The Torque-Biasing Center Drive distributes power between the front and rear axles for maximum traction on any surface. There’s no clutch to slip, just instant power on tap when you need it.
Steel ring and pinion gears provide extreme durability for hard-charging racing action.
Huge, Extreme-travel aluminum GTR shocks are threaded to adjust ride height on a single high performance spring at each corner. A separate slave shock provides additional damping action and doubles the oil capacity for the smoothest action possible.
Massive front suspension arms form a double wishbone design to maintain proper geometry throughout their huge range of travel. The semi-solid design fully captures both shock and sway bar rod ends for ultimate durability and toughness. Large steering blocks use oversized bearings to accommodate the steel axles.
The key to the desert race chassis’ phenomenal off-road capability lies in its massive suspension travel. With 3.15” of travel in the front and 4” in the rear, the suspension soaks up whoops and washboard ruts with ease.
The cantilever sway bars are actuated by pushrods for precise control and realistic performance and tuning.
Expertly detailed and fully functional, the suspension limiter straps keep the solid rear axle under control and prevent overextension.
Fortified to handle extreme 6s LiPo power, the VXL-6s speed control flows current to the motor through Maxx Cable wiring with large 6mm connectors. LED status lights keep you fully informed on the ESC’s status and a heavy-duty fan keeps temperatures under control. The high-tech VXL-6s speed control provides real-time telemetry using the Traxxas Link app while retaining Traxxas’ easy one-button programming simplicity.
The 2200kV brushless motor transforms 22+ volts of LiPo power into 50+ mph speed and desert shredding torque for the ultimate in Pro-Scale™ performance.
The digital 2075X metal-gear servo provides precise input and powerful torque. It’s fully waterproof to make all-weather adventures a reality and it’s further protected from damage underneath the tough skid plates.
The fully featured Traxxas TQi™ 2.4GHz radio system delivers the superior speed, precision, and control required for the Desert Racer’s immersive driving experience. The transmitter is Traxxas Link enabled, making it easy to pair a smartphone with the optional #6511 Wireless Module. The Traxxas Link app opens up a whole world of tuning options and also displays real-time telemetry from the ESC.
Patented Traxxas innovation seals out the water so that the fun doesn’t end in water, snow, and mud. Dirty truck? Just hose it off. The ESC, servo, and receiver box are all fully waterproof.
