The advanced processing capability of the latest generation of Traxxas electronic speed controls, including the VXL-4s™, VXL-6s™, and VXL-8s™, allows for much more than easy operation, smooth power delivery, and real-time telemetry. Unlock the full potential of your model’s speed control with the Traxxas Link™ Wireless module (6511) to stay up to date on all the latest features delivered through the Traxxas Link App.
Important Update for VXL-6s Owners
The latest firmware update available via the Traxxas Link App makes a change to the functionality of the EZ-Set button on the VXL-6s speed control found in the E-Revo® VXL Brushless and Unlimited Desert Racer®.
The EZ-Set button is no longer used to power off the model: to power down your model, simply unplug the battery, or batteries, from the speed control.
Other functionality for the ESC, such as throttle calibration and low voltage detection features, remain the same as previously. Consult your model’s owners manual for additional information.

How to Update Your Traxxas Model
If you have a VXL-4s, VXL-6s, or VXL-8s ESC, it’s easy to update to the latest firmware. You’ll need a 6511 Wireless Module installed in your transmitter. Download the free Traxxas Link app to your phone or tablet and be sure to have fresh batteries in your transmitter, vehicle, and mobile device. Prop up your vehicle so that the wheels are not on the ground and then power on your transmitter and ESC. Launch the Traxxas Link app and select your model using the tile on the menu screen. Once you have green transmitter and vehicle icons in the top corners of the app screen, your transmitter and vehicle are linked. If you are not automatically prompted for an update, click on the Support tile and follow the instructions in the app.
A banner will appear on the support page with the updates available and instructions to upgrade your ESC. Before starting the upgrade process, ensure your vehicle batteries are charged and have at least 50% power remaining on the transmitter and mobile device. The entire update process may take up to 15 minutes. Click the banner to begin the update. Once the update process begins, you must not terminate the application or power down the transmitter.
Multiple updates may be available. The updates will begin once you click the banner to proceed. All three status LEDs on the ESC will indicate the update progress as well as the progress bar in the Traxxas Link app. Once the update is complete, the ESC may power off.
To complete the process, power the transmitter off and then back on again. This should complete the update process. If you have any questions, please call Traxxas customer support at 888-TRAXXAS or (972-549-3000 outside USA).
