Getting Started
1) Begin by removing the body and the battery. Access the receiver by using a 2 mm driver to remove the screws that secure the wire clamp and the receiver box cover. Once the box is open, unplug the steering servo. It is plugged into the channel-one (CH1) port. Pull on the plug to remove it, do not tug directly on the wires.
2) Thread the servo wire out through the receiver box. Lift the wire to remove the rubber plug that secures the wire in the channel on the side of the chassis. Turn the model over and use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw that secures the servo saver. Pull straight up on the servo saver to remove it.
3) Remove the four screws that secure the steering servo, and lift it out of the chassis.
4) If the servo-saver adapter is still on the 2056 servo, use a flat-blade screwdriver to gently pry it off. Press the servo-saver adapter onto the new servo’s output shaft.
5) Insert the new servo into the chassis and secure it using the screws you just removed. Position the servo so the wire faces the rear of the model as shown.
6) Thread the servo wire through the receiver-box cover and plug the servo into the channel-one (CH1) port. There are two CH1 ports, you can use either one. Route the servo wire along the side of the chassis, and secure it in the channel using the rubber plug.
7) Reinstall the receiver box cover first, followed by the wire clamp. Carefully bundle any excess wire so it is not pinched by the cover, and make certain the blue O-ring that seals the receiver box is properly seated in its channel before securing the cover.
8) We need to “center” the steering servo before reattaching the servo saver. Power-on the transmitter and your model and then turn the steering trim knob to the 12 o’clock position (straight up).
9) Position the front wheels so they point straight ahead, then reinstall the servo saver using a 2 mm driver and a 3x10 mm buttonhead screw. Do not overtighten. When properly installed, the steering linkages and servo saver will be oriented like this. Confirm the model steers properly. If the wheels do not point precisely straight ahead when the steering is at neutral, use the transmitter’s steering trim knob to fine-tune the center point. Reinstall the body, and you’re ready to enjoy enhanced steering authority, precision, and durability.
