A 6s truck needs a robust motor mounting system that can not only resist the incredible torque output of the power system but also withstand the motor’s inertia in a crash impact so motor movement doesn’t alter the gear mesh or damage other components. Traxxas engineers crafted a cast aluminum motor cradle with fixed gear mesh to provide full-contact support for the entire motor, eliminating flex points and providing a solid foundation for Sledge's® 2000kV brushless motor.
Zero Flex, Zero Movement
Sledge’s unique cradle-style mount completely encloses the motor and clamps it tightly into place. Extra security is supplied by two screws that secure the face of the motor to a cast-in stop, eliminating the chance of the motor sliding in the mount. Four heavy-duty 4 mm screws secure the mount to the chassis from below, preventing the flex associated with vertical-plate designs that cantilever the motor over the chassis. Sledge’s cast-aluminum cradle mount provides holding strength and support that exceeds expectations, because there’s no such thing as too strong.

The position of Sledge’s cradle mount is set by an indexed insert that perfectly sets the gear mesh for you. Other motor mount designs can shift during severe impacts, leading to improper gear mesh and potential drivetrain damage. Sledge features a hard-mounted guide that sets gear mesh, so you don't have to rely on thread locker to keep things in place.
