Carbon Fiber Chassis
We'll start by replacing the composite chassis and upper deck with carbon-fiber components. This is the most complicated part of the build, but it's not difficult and won't take long. We’re starting here because disassembling the chassis also lets us easily access the center shaft and driveshafts, which is our next stop for upgrades. The carbon chassis is much stiffer than the tub, and won’t collect as much dirt as you drive (plus it looks awesome). The 7525 kit has everything you need to make the swap, including a carbon-fiber battery strap with anodized aluminum standoffs. Before you finish installing the chassis, you may want to consider the 2065X metal-gear servo. The Teton's steering has plenty of shock-absorption built in to protect the standard servo, but the 2065X is the last word in toughness for micro servos.


Aluminum Drivetrain Upgrades
While we had the chassis apart, we swapped the plastic driveshafts for aluminum versions. The stock shafts are already a step above what’s expected in 1/18 scale because you get universal joints instead of dogbones. The optional aluminum shafts go even further with CV-style joints for even more efficient power transfer and long wear, plus a great-looking blue-anodized finish. The center shaft gets the blue-anodized treatment too, plus a one-way bearing that gives the Teton more aggressive on-power steering.


GTR Shocks
The Teton gets a nice set of oil-filled shocks as standard equipment, but Traxxas’ aluminum GTR shocks are the peak of suspension performance. The tiny dampers are built just like the larger versions for Traxxas 1/10 scale models. The machine aluminum bodies are threaded for easy preload adjustment without clips, the bores are PTFE-coated for near frictionless operation, and the TiN-coated shock shafts resist scuffing and sticking for ultra-responsive action. The shocks come assembled as a four-piece set, ready to be filled with the included silicone oil.


Anodized Wheel Nut Washers
The optional wheel nut washers get machined highlights after anodizing for extra detail, and you can choose red, blue, green, or orange to match or contrast your body colors. You can even use them to dress up the transmitters’ steering wheels.




That's the end of the build. Our Teton is now upgraded and fully outfitted for adventure. The new carbon fiber chassis is radically stiffer than the composite chassis and the smooth GTR shocks really soak up the bumps. Don't be afraid to get your Teton dirty. This is one tough little truck!
