How to Vent Desert Racer Tires
Learn how to Remove Sand from Inside your Tires
Unlimited Desert Racer® rolls out of the box ready to take on your toughest desert challenges. Its Pro Scale® chassis replicates true off-road racing dynamics for the most realistic driving experience possible. Ask anyone who has raced in the desert and they’ll tell you that sand gets everywhere! This video explains how to get sand out of your Desert Racer tires to improve performance and reduce wear.
When sand gets in tires, it unbalances them and causes handling issues. Get enough sand in them, and the additional weight will start to stress your motor and ESC or even potentially cause a tire to blow out. Follow the steps below to remove the sand from inside your tires.
Start by cutting a small hole in the tires with a sharp pair of body scissors. Pinch the tire to create a crease in the middle and then cut a V shape on both sides to make a small rounded hole. Rotate the tire 180 degrees and do the same on the other side. If you have a lot of sand in the tires, try to shake out as much as you can. As the truck is running, sand will automatically be flung out of the holes.
After you have cut the holes to let the sand out, use small squares of duct tape to cover up the breather holes in the wheels. This will help keep the sand out. Also inspect the tire bead. Make sure the tire isn’t separating away from the rim and letting sand inside. If so, take this opportunity to clean and reglue the tire back to the rim.
