How to Become a TQi Power User
Exploring the Premium Features Built into Every TQi Radio System
The Traxxas TQi transmitter’s sleek, screenless design makes it easy for anyone to enjoy precision wheel and trigger control without an overload of menus and settings to master. It’s the perfect complement to any Traxxas model, and the ultimate in switch-on-and-drive convenience—but that’s just the beginning for the TQi. Many drivers are unaware of the powerful and versatile features built into the TQi and all the capabilities it has to offer. Let’s take a closer look at what you can do with this seemingly simple but quietly cutting-edge radio system.

Traxxas Link 30-Model Memory
Traxxas Link Model Memory isn’t like other model-memory systems you may be familiar with. There are no screens to navigate, you don’t have to name anything, and you don’t need to “tell” the transmitter which model you want it to access from memory. You literally don’t have to do anything but switch on and drive—the TQi transmitter will automatically recognize any model you’ve previously linked to the transmitter and load the correct settings for it.

How Does It Work?
When you bind your TQi transmitter to a 6533 receiver, that specific receiver and its settings will be automatically loaded into the TQi’s memory. The receiver and any changes you make to its settings will be saved when you power off. Up to 30 receivers can be stored in the TQi’s memory and recalled automatically—just power up your transmitter and switch on the model you want to drive. No menus, no naming, no selecting, no hassles.

For Example:
Let’s say you’ve got a Bandit VXL and you’ve just added a Rustler 4X4 VXL to your Traxxas fleet. If you bind the Bandit VXL’s transmitter to the Rustler 4X4’s receiver, the Bandit’s transmitter will store the Rustler’s receiver and its settings in Traxxas Link Model Memory. When you switch the Bandit’s transmitter off, power it back on and power up the Rustler, the Bandit’s transmitter will automatically recall the Rustler’s receiver and its settings. You can also bind the Rustler’s TQi to the Bandit, so no matter which TQi you take off the shelf, you’ll be able to operate either model.

Total TQi Convenience: Cross-Bind Your Traxxas Fleet
You can bind up to 30 receivers to the TQi and they’ll automatically be stored in Traxxas Link Model Memory (it also works in reverse—you can bind up to 30 TQi transmitters to one receiver). So, if you’ve got 30 TQi-equipped Traxxas vehicles (lucky you!), you can bind each TQi to all 30 models, and you’ll never have to wonder which transmitter goes with which model—no matter which TQi you grab, it will be the “right” one. And you’ll never have to choose or select anything—just power up and drive. Note that you won’t have access to channel-3 and channel-4 functions such as a TRX-4’s T-Lock diffs and High-Low transmission if you’re driving with a 2-channel transmitter, but you will have steering and throttle control.

Knob Know-How
The TQi transmitter has just two knobs: steering trim on the left, and the Multi-Function Knob (MFK) on the right. For all TQi-equipped models other than the TRX-4 and TRX-6 trucks, the MFK is assigned to the Traxxas Stability Management system® (TSM). If you’ve got a TRX-4 or TRX-6, the MFK controls Cruise Control. To assign the MFK to other functions, you can use the Traxxas Link Wireless Module (Included with some models; optional on others) and free Traxxas Link app (more on that next), or you can follow the menu tree in the TQi manual using the transmitter’s MENU and SET buttons. Either method will allow you to assign the MFK to any of these functions:
Traxxas Stability Management assistance level Steering Sensitivity (controls sensitivity to steering inputs near neutral) Throttle Sensitivity (controls sensitivity to throttle inputs near neutral) Steering Percentage (sets the amount of steering throw) Braking Percentage (sets the amount of braking throw) Throttle Trim

No matter how you configure the Multi-Function Knob or any of the TQi’s other settings, the steering trim knob will always and only control steering trim. Steering trim is the most-frequently used adjustment on any transmitter, so Traxxas made sure it’s always handy and easy to adjust.
Unleash the Full Power of the TQi with the Traxxas Link App
The TQi’s most powerful and versatile feature is its ability to communicate with your iOS or Android device via Bluetooth connection using the Traxxas Link Wireless Module and the free Traxxas Link app. Installing the module and connecting your device takes just seconds and enables a variety tools and settings that make it easy to manage multiple models, adjust steering and throttle settings, view telemetry data (*optional telemetry sensors (sold separately) may be required), and more. You can even see your model’s roll and pitch angles as you drive. You get all the capabilities of expensive “pro” radio systems at a fraction of the cost, plus features those “premium” systems don’t offer—and you control it all with a high-resolution touch display that’s far superior to any built-in transmitter screen. No other radio system offers as much functionality, capability, versatility, and value as the TQi.

The Traxxas Link app’s graphic interface is easy and inviting to use. Download and install it now for your iOS or Android device and have a look around! The most-used features and adjustments are:
As the name implies, settings that affect the way your model drives live here. Steering and throttle sensitivity, steering travel, braking power, and more are set by simply dragging sliders. Or, assign a setting to the Multi-Function Knob for direct control at the transmitter.
Here you can save and name different Drive Effects setups for your model. For example, you might have “High Traction” and Low Traction” profiles for your Slash 4X4 so you can instantly load the setup that best suits track conditions.
You’ll find model configuration tools here that make it fast and easy to bind the TQi to additional receivers and models; control and configure Pro Scale lighting; set up telemetry sensors; adjust steering and servo reversing, and more.
Configure a real-time, recordable display with live telemetry to capture speed, voltage, RPM, temperature and more using optional sensors installed on your model. Just click the Telemetry tab on your model’s page here at Traxxas.com to view the available sensors.
