Monster Beach Blast: Hoss 4X4 VXL Hits the Sand
Forget the Sand Castles, We Build an Epic Sand Ramp!
The weather may be getting colder, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had at the beach. We hit the sand with our favorite new RC monster truck: Hoss® 4X4 VXL. The Hoss’ oversized Sledgehammer® tires bite hard for superior traction and epic roosts. Running on soft surfaces can be a lot of work; that’s where the Hoss’ massive 540XL brushless Velineon® motor comes in handy, kicking out gobs of torque for endless wheelies. To top things off, we built some gnarly sand ramps to launch our Hoss skyward for some serious hang time in this wild new video.

Start Your Next Adventure with the Hoss 4X4 VXL
Hoss 4X4 VXL is your go-to truck for full-throttle adventure. Grab a fistful of throttle and the huge Velineon 540XL motor delivers a massive torque punch to wheelie on command, and then keeps pouring on the thrust for a 60+ MPH top speed. Hoss shreds any terrain, from dirt and sand to mud and snow. Drive harder, go faster, hang tougher— Nothing stops the Hoss!

For those who believe “there’s no replacement for displacement," Hoss 4X4 VXL’s massive Velineon 540XL brushless motor is 25% longer than the standard 3500kV motor for nearly limitless torque. It’s the largest motor we’ve ever offered in a truck this size. The Velineon VXL-3s speed control rolls out the power smoothly utilizing large 6.5 mm connectors and an integrated cooling fan for fast, reliable fun.

Instead of an unrestricted “open” differential, the Hoss has a sealed Torque-Biasing Center Drive filled with ultra-high viscosity silicone. The factory-installed unit functions like a differential to give the Hoss smooth full-time 4WD power delivery, but it won’t “diff out” even under hard acceleration in high-traction conditions, or when you’re going for the long-distance wheelie record.

Sledgehammers tires ride high with a 5.3-inch diameter that helps the Hoss steamroll over and through anything your off-road adventures can dish out. The moto-inspired design features chunky, angular knobs and bars with deep sipes to grip and grab, and the tread elements are widely spaced to prevent dirt, mud, and debris from packing the tire.

Starting at the motor, the Hoss goes straight to metal-on-metal with a beefy 32-pitch pinion and steel spur gear. The Torque-Biasing Center Drive’s splined output hub engage the Hoss’s extruded, anodized aluminum driveshaft for locked-in power delivery. In the front and rear gearboxes, metal pinions and drive the differentials’ metal ring gears. There’s yet more metal inside each differential, with steel spider and output gears to eliminate any weak links.
