How to Customize a Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0
Customizing and Racing Your Traxxas 4-Tec

The 4-Tec® 2.0 is the perfect chassis for a custom 1/10 scale vintage-spec race car. With its adjustable wheelbase, narrow and wide offset wheels, and highly adjustable body mounts, the 4-Tec accepts most 190 mm or 200 mm touring car bodies. This video demonstrates how to prepare a custom body for intense side-by-side racing on the track.
The feature-packed 4-Tec 2.0 Chassis is an awesome track weapon and equally capable drift machine. The 4-Tec 2.0 VXL Chassis adds more tuning capability along with extreme VXL brushless power for screaming 70+ mph speed. Both chassis make excellent platforms to build a USVTA Vintage RC race car. To learn more about the USVTA series and guidelines, follow this link.
Adjust the wheelbaseAdjust the wheelbase
The standard wheelbase for each 4-Tec model is 10.1″ (256 mm) with a maximum width in the rear of 200 mm. Choosing a body with these dimensions will require the least work, but the 4-Tec’s adjustable wheelbase allows up to 3 mm of movement forward or backward for perfect fitment.
Adjust the body mountsAdjust the body mounts
The 4-Tec’s innovative body mounts adjust for width, height, and move forward or backward to make mounting bodies a breeze. Before painting the body, lay it on the chassis and line up the body posts with a good point on the body for the holes. Mark the spots on the outer overspray film so you’ll know where to ream the holes once the body is painted.

Mask off the body and apply several light coats of paint to obtain the desired effect. For more tips and information on painting, check out this video. From mild to wild, the only limit is your imagination. Trim the body and smooth out any rough edges for show-stopping custom looks.
