Rustler 4X4 Now Requires Long-Format Batteries
The Traxxas Rustler 4X4 is one of the hottest trucks available today with its low-CG chassis, razor sharp handling, and modern design. Until now, the Rustler 4X4 and Rustler 4X4 VXL both required short-format batteries. There’s an exciting new change happening that will now allow you to share your long-format batteries across nearly the entire Traxxas lineup. New Rustler 4X4 and Rustler 4X4 VXL models now feature extended battery trays to accommodate long-format batteries.
Identifying the Changes
Examine the Chassis
The new Rustler 4X4 chassis features a longer battery tray and corresponding bulkhead. The overall length of the chassis remains the same so all current Rustler 4X4 accessories will fit the new long-format chassis. The new chassis now requires long-format batteries, but this means you can share one battery across almost the entire Traxxas product line. The easiest way to identify your truck is to examine the battery tie-down. If your Rustler 4X4 takes short-format batteries, the battery tie-down will have a pronounced bend to fit around the "hump" of some short-format batteries. If your Rustler 4X4 takes long-format batteries, the battery tie-down will be straight. Have a look at the two versions below to identify your models.
Convert Your Existing Chassis to a Long-Format Chassis
If you would like to convert your existing Rustler 4X4 chassis to the long-format chassis, Traxxas has you covered. Transfer all of your existing parts and accessories over to the new long-format chassis and you’ll be able to share one long-format battery between most of your Traxxas vehicles. Just click on the button below to add all the necessary parts to your cart. They work with both Rustler 4X4 and Rustler 4X4 VXL models.
