How to Install Aluminum Caster Blocks
Give Your Bandit or Drag Slash the Ultimate Strength Upgrade
Here's some good news for all the Bandit® and Drag Slash® owners out there. You’ve probably discovered there’s one aluminum upgrade part that’s offered for all the Slash®, Stampede®, and Rustler® 2WD models but isn’t available for Bandit or Drag Slash. That part is the 6061-T6 aluminum caster block set. The caster blocks don't fit the Bandit or Drag Slash because their unique front suspension arms don’t have the clearance required for full suspension and steering travel with the chunky aluminum blocks. Here’s the good news: all you need to do to make your Bandit or Drag Slash aluminum-caster-block ready is install the optional Heavy Duty front arms. In addition to boosting durability, the HD arms have the clearance you need to run aluminum blocks and they're well under $15.

With the stock arms in place, you can upgrade your Bandit with aluminum Big Bore shocks, heavy-duty steel turnbuckle camber and toe links, and 6061-T6 aluminum steering blocks—as seen here (and if you have a Bandit VXL, you’ve already got the turnbuckle links). The only hop-up the stock arms won’t accept is aluminum caster blocks.

To install aluminum caster blocks on the Bandit or Drag Slash, just upgrade to the optional Heavy Duty front arms. They have the clearance required for the aluminum blocks.

The 6061-T6 caster blocks are available in blue, orange, red, green, and pink and also fit all 2WD Slash, Rustler, and Stampede models.

Installing the parts is easy—just disassemble and reassemble with the new parts. If you’re unsure what goes where, just pull up the exploded views for Bandit XL-5 or Bandit VXL by clicking the links. Use the new kingpins included with the aluminum caster blocks when you install the blocks.

Here’s our Bandit VXL with Heavy Duty arms and aluminum caster blocks installed. This would also be a great time to install the aluminum steering blocks to round out a solid durability upgrade up front.
