How To Convert Your TRX-4 to a 336MM Wheelbase
Increase Your Wheelbase to Accept the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet K10 Bodies
If the latest long-wheelbase Ford® F-150® and Chevrolet® Cheyenne K10 High Trail Edition™ models have you wondering what it would take to convert your 312 mm or 324 mm wheelbase TRX-4 to the 336 mm configuration and add the latest Ford or Chevy body, this article is for you! The conversion requires you to transfer all the chassis components to new frame rails. It’s not a quick job, but it’s not a difficult job, especially if you’re a regular wrencher. It’ll probably take you less time than you think!

TRX-4 models can be converted to the 336 mm wheelbase configuration at standard ride height for use with 1.9″ wheels and tires.
You’ll find the required parts listed below, and making the conversion is just a matter of replacing the noted components. If you’ve got a 312 mm wheelbase model ('79 Chevrolet Blazer, '79 Ford Bronco, or Mercedes-Benz® G 500® 4x4²) you’ll need to install longer rear links and extend the rear driveshaft (easily done, there’s a kit for it), while the 324 mm trucks (Land Rover Defender or 2021 Ford Bronco) can use all their existing suspension and drivetrain parts—no new suspension links required. Let’s take a closer look:

Converting a 324 mm wheelbase TRX-4 to 336 mm requires 9229 480 mm chassis rails, 9288 inner fenders, 9237 skid plate extender, 9283 185 mm rear T-Lock cable, and hardware packs 2616 and 2579.

The skid plate extender is an unusual looking part that might have you wondering where it’s supposed to go. But there’s no need to wonder, just consult the chassis exploded view for the F-150 or K10 Cheyenne.

If you’re converting a 312 mm wheelbase truck, you’ll need the same parts as the 324 mm conversion, plus the 8057 short-to-long suspension link kit.

You can get the F-150 body in brown, blue, black, and clear (not shown). The K10 also comes clear, plus red and black.

To give your truck the full F-150 or K10 Cheyenne makeover, install the chrome bumpers that go with the bodies. You’ll find the part numbers for the bumpers and mounts below.

What does it look like to convert a Blazer to a K10? See for yourself! We customized this truck with a 9212 Clear Chevrolet K10 body coated with 5051 Maxx Orange ProGraphix paint to help it stand out from the crowd. We also picked the 8166X Rally Wheels for a more factory look.
