Heavy Duty 4X4 Drivetrain
The super-efficient shaft-driven four-wheel-drive system uses a tough center driveshaft that joins the front and rear oil-filed differentials. The steel-gear differentials feed power to the wheels through huge Maxx-Duty driveshafts with upgraded u-joints .
One-Piece Camber and Toe Links
Jato 4X4 uses new one-piece heavy duty camber and toe links at all four corners with double-shear connections on the shock towers for added strength. This energy-absorbing design allows the links to return to shape if flexed and they won’t pull apart in a crash. The links are already pre-set for track-worthy handling with optimal track and toe settings.

High-Downforce Wing
Jato 4X4’s sleek, low-profile , cab forward body incorporates Sledge's high-downforce wing for extra high-speed stability. Wedged side pods provide additional front downforce for increased steering response.
3″ Buggy Wheels with Sledgehammer Tires
Jato 4X4 rides on new 3″ buggy wheels with tall 4.5″ Sledgehammer tires for game-changing stability and control. The Sledgehammer’s wide, open-block tread design won’t clog up with dirt or debris for superior traction on all types of terrain. The wheel’s 17 mm hub design creates a large contact area for extra grip to resist rounding.
Heavy-Duty Shock Towers
Jato 4X4’s new heavy-duty shock towers are beefed up with double-shear link mounts and extra material to withstand rollovers without incident. The front shock caps are protected under reinforcing ridges and the molded wing locks directly into the rear tower for extra rigidity.
Fixed Gear Adapter
A fixed gear adapter take the guesswork out of setting your gear mesh with five preset gearing positions. Insert the motor screw through the desired gearing position for a perfect gear mesh every time. The fixed positioning also keeps the gear mesh tight, even after the harshest impacts.
Traxxas High-Current Connector
The patented High-Current Connectors funnel maximum power to the vehicle’s electronics. High-Current Connectors also provide the quickest, safest charge for Traxxas batteries.
Clipless Body
Jato 4X4 uses a rugged clipless body latching system for secure mounting and easy removal. Four side latches lock the body firmly in place to eliminate wobble and flutter at high speeds. The aggressive aero body comes pre-painted and cut with decals already applied.
T-Bar Chassis Stiffener
Jato 4X4 borrows a page from Sledge’s top-spec engineering by incorporating its unique T-Bar chassis stiffener. The T-Bar delivers cross-sectional stiffness no round tube can match.
Extreme HD Suspension Components
The Extreme Heavy-Duty Upgrade Kit comes factory-installed on Jato 4X4 for ultimate strength and durability. The axle carriers, caster blocks, and steering blocks are beefed up with more material and stronger construction.
Waterproof Receiver Box
A waterproof receiver box keeps the receiver safe and dry while still allowing easy access for maintenance. The antenna and servo wires route neatly through a patented water-tight seal for true all-weather fun.
Adjustable Battery Hold-Down
An adjustable battery hold-down accommodates a wide variety of batteries from NiMH packs to powerful LiPo batteries. The extended battery tray allows the packs to be positioned forward or backward for front/rear weight bias tuning. An optional battery expander kit (sold separately) is available for use with oversize batteries.
3-Channel Receiver with Fail-Safe Security
In the event of signal loss due to an accidental transmitter switch-off or depleted batteries, the receiver automatically returns the throttle to neutral and holds the last commanded steering position. The fail-safe programming is conveniently built-in and does not need to be activated.
Digital Steering Servo
Agile handling requires a steering servo that’s both strong and fast. The included 2075 digital high-speed , high-torque servo features ball bearings for precise control and quick reflexes.
Dual Bellcrank Steering with Servo Saver
The dual-bellcrank design pivots smoothly even in the harshest conditions. An integrated cam-type servo saver protects the steering servo from crash impacts without sacrificing steering precision.
Hex Hardware
Hex-drive hardware provides a more positive and secure connection than other fasteners. The black-oxide coating provides a rust resistant high-tech look and feel.
GTR Shocks
GTR shocks represent the peak of racing technology. Their large 13 mm bores hold over 70% more oil than Ultra Shocks for consistent damping. X-ring seals keep oil in and dirt out for smooth suspension action. Spring preload and ride height changes are as simple as turning the threaded collars.
Heavy-Duty Suspension Arms
Molded from our toughest composite material, Jato 4X4’s heavy-duty suspension arms provide just the right amount of flex to resist breaking, even in cold weather! From skate parks to 10-foot ramps, these suspension arms stand up to even the most punishing drivers for non-stop fun behind the wheel.
Aerodynamic Bulkhead Cover
Jato 4X4’s aerodynamic bulkhead cover incorporates mounts for the optional sway bar (sold separately) . Low-profile skid plates in the front and rear give Jato 4X4’s suspension maximum down travel while reducing the risk of snagging and scraping.
Long-Travel Suspension
Jato 4X4 uses XX-long GTR shocks at all four corners for ultra-plush suspension travel to swallow up bumps and deliver incredible control. Performance-optimized suspension components provide maximum articulation without binding or interference.
Full Contact Sealed Bearings
Jato 4X4 utilizes full contact sealed bearings throughout the driveline to keep out the grime and grit. Less downtime for cleaning and maintaining bearings equals more run time and more fun.
Heavy-Duty Slipper Clutch
A heavy-duty slipper clutch uses alloy pressure plates and high-temperature aluminum pads for superior power handling. The slipper clutch delivers equal power distribution front to rear for instant throttle response through the drive system and aggressive four-wheel-drive grip.
Large 32-Pitch Gears
Jato’s 4X4 driveline is built to handle standard brushless horsepower power and even the extreme Velineon® 3s brushless power upgrade down the road. The spur gear features large 32-pitch teeth for total reliability no matter how much power you pour on.
17 mm Hex Hubs
Jato 4X4’s 17 mm hex hubs create a large contact area for maximum grip on the wheel. Their splined design interlocks with the wheels using aluminum nuts that won’t let go. Best of all, the hubs are compatible with most 1/8 scale buggy wheels using a traditional 17 mm hub design. Installation and removal is quick and painless with the included wheel wrench.
Maxx-Duty Driveshafts
Jato 4X4’s Maxx-duty® driveshafts with beefed-up U-joints are built to handle brushless power without breaking a sweat. Large 6 mm axles lock into the included 17 mm splined wheel hexes for unmatched strength and durability.
Sealed Steel-Gear Differentials
Sealed steel-gear differentials are ready to handle brushless power without costly upgrades. Silicone gaskets and X-ring seals allow the differentials to be tuned for specific running conditions by varying the viscosity of the oil inside them. Jato 4X4's modular chassis design makes differential access quick and easy.
