what are the other motor's brands? the jade is a good motor, but it could have a flaw. probably not a big deal.

Proper gearing is important for that quad wind motor to rev up to its powerband. How do you have it geared? Is it a Ruster or Bandit?

Needed more information to answer your question properly, so chill.

You should gear the Jade around 15-16/84, and it will actually run cooler and faster than with the stock 18/84 gearing because it will be able to turn more RPM's.

I have a Jade too, and found that that was the best gearing combo. The 17x1 Sapphire is a good motor too, and more at home in a truck than the Jade because it is a single wind, which gives more torque.

If the motors are geared properly, the lower turn motor will be faster. Different types of motors will make a difference too. For example, a 12 turn Speedgem will not perform as well as a 12 turn P94, because the P94 has stronger magnets, better brush design, and a hand wound/balanced armature.
Generally speaking, you get what you pay for.
