don't forget about this one... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBLNC&P=0

I have two 8.4v 5000mah dtx packs that I use for water runs and they are a tight fit top to bottom, side to side there is a little room but not much, takes a little effort to get them out when there hot if you don't like to pull on the wire connector.

The biggest Traxxas battery would be the 7600.

I just switched from the spc 8200 to the smc 9400. I been meaning to do a time comparison but both batteries run for so long I would probably die from boredom.

the smc fit with a few mm to spare.

I think those 10000mah Traxxas batteries are design to fit another Traxxas vehicle. Slash, XO-1, or maybe that long Funny car they now sell.

I know the lipos give you more punch but do they affect the top speed.
If not I will go with nimh because it is cheaper and I can get 8.4v.

Lipoes will not lose the punch and power is more stable consistant

The nimh may only be better for the first min or so then gradually drop off. The Lipo's are consistently strong and last way longer. I keep my stock nimh as backup but have 4 lipo's for normal use. Don't want to keep switching the lvc on/off.
