I have a 2s lipo that I haven't used in a year. I stored it at 3.85 volts each cell. There isn't any puffing going on. Would it be safe to charge up and use after that long of storing it? Thanks guys.
I say keep a close eye on it while charging and check the voltage after it has been charged (assuming you have not problems).
If the pack isn't puffed and the voltage looks within acceptable limits (3.0 - 4.2v per cell) I would say yes, try it out.
Sup makes a good point, keep an eye on it just in case, but that should be done for any battery regardless of age or condition. It's never a good idea to charge packs unattended.
Alright thanks guys. I was told that 3.85 volts a cell was storage voltage, but I wasn't sure. Yeah I'll watch it closely on the first run for temps and even cell usage.
How are you guys checking the volts ?
Well I sure hope it works out, and I use an aftermarket cell checker.
2-3 years = don't even try
1-2 years = fuzzy (be careful for a few runs)
< 1 year = fine
I could have bought my LHS by now...
