    Revo transmission help

I have a 3.3 Revo (#5309) and the transmission has seized up. I took it apart and found that it's due to a shredded reverse output gear. I've cleaned all of the debris out and am ready to reassemble the transmission but while I was cleaning it, I also found debris too large to have come from the gear. It looks like it was a collar of some sort, but all parts shown on the exploded diagram are accounted for. I'm lost as to what this piece could have been. Also, I used a brush and towel to clean the parts thoroughly so as not to miss any debris and I'm worried that I removed too much of the grease in the process. Any advice on reapplying grease? What kind/how much...

A picture of this piece may help. Got one?

No pic available. There was nothing left but splinters. It looked like it could have been a collar or sleeve that would slide over the shaft.. maybe 1/2" long.

Figured it out. It was a post on the inside of the transmission housing. Couldn't see it in the exploded diagram because it's on the half that faces away. It's what the idler gear and idler gear support rest on.
