    My brushless Teton

Sooooo, I was bored today and decided to make my Teton brushless. I used a mamba micro 6800kv motor and the Traxxas vxl-3m esc (which fits in the spot of the latrax esc perfectly). I will try and get a video up soon. Here's a couple pics..

Had to just slightly dremel the bottom hole, and oval out the top insert on the mount to adjust gear mesh.. I'll post up pics in a few to show you..

Heres the bottom hole slightly ovaled upwards...

Here's the insert piece ovaled out to adjust gear mesh...

As you can see, the motor has a few different bolt patterns...

Here it is sitting perfectly in the truck...

    It's a lot faster now on 2s, I think 3s may be uncontrollable...lol

It pulls the front wheels up about a half an inch before the tires lose grip... You can hear them spin on the road. I bet if they had better grip it would wheelie for sure... It definitely wants to.. I may go to a lower kv motor with losi mini 8ight wheels.

Man you're making me want a brushless system for my Teton! just not sure if I'm handy enough on the modifying part. don't want to ruin it to be honest.

Not hard at all to mod. It's very little dremel work if using the stock pinion. It's well worth it.

Made the same exact mod on the rally it just almost fits but opted to leave the little plate out

I don't think the vxl 3m runs brushed motors, unless you ment the 380 vxl motor...I think that may be too big as its larger than the stock brushed motor..

Found the esc on Dollar hobbyz. I think the Mamba Micro 6800kv has been discontinued.

Yup.....everything else though is built tough. Gears are fine and lots of kart wheels and nothing broke. Only driveshafts, mine broke on the third backflip with 4100kv, 3s lipo, and 14 tooth pinion...need some driveshafts ASAP

Well they don't exactly slide right in. There 4mm instead of 6mm and you have to come up with bearings to hold them and hexes to mount the wheels.
    Everything else fits fine though.

Hmmm, curious how they work out, or any fabrication needed, seeing these have the external axle threads and such.

OK gotcha, might be only alternative right now until the factory alum. comes out? If and when that is........

To expand on it a little bit:

The Mini-t shafts have a 4mm stub, so you have to come up with a solution to the hub bearings. The stock bearings are 6x10x3mm, so you have to come up with bearings that are 4x10x3mm. I haven't found any cheap ones and I've been working on coming up with some sleeves to use more economical 4x8x3 bearings.

The main hurdle is the front hubs that have a spacer that is 8mm in diameter, essentially you end up with nothing to hold the wheels on the truck.
So I came up with a sleeve that you could glue in, once you dremeled out the stock spacer, to hold the 8mm bearings.

Also working on hexes, I think you can use mini-8ight hexes, not 100% on that though.
If you bought bought the correct size bearings, found hexes, and removed the out drive rings you'd be good

So since the 6800kv is discontinued, what motor can I use if I were to buy the vxl-3m?
