Because Traxxas used a very cheap 2.4ghz rx/tx to save money.

It might, you never know until you test it though.
With great brushless comes great responsibility.

    Why long antenna

I shortened mine to about 3 inches as well, and as far as I can tell the range is unaffected.

It doesn't mind much, I had mine short for a while but get about 1ft better of range now that it is as Lon as it can go. I would keep short inside the body though, it looks better IMO.

TQI is a radio system...and Mamba Monster is a motor/esc.
    2 completely different things.
Plus...w/o extensive modifications...the mamba monster won't fit in your mini Summit.

I just went with 2218x rx's in every one of my cars and control them all using the TQI radio with the iPod dock that came with my Slash Ultimate.(6 cars...one remote...all with antennas about 2" long or shorter)

Oh gotcha. Still... The MM is too much for a 1/16 car

Do you have a brushed or brushless. The brushless should have a pretty short antenna. The brushed used to be an fm radio with a long antenna

The new brushless comes with a long antenna (6516/6517 tx and 6519 rx)

Just a thought but are the other receivers different dimensions and too big to fit in the 1/16 receiver box?

All of Traxxas' receivers are roughly the same size.

If you go for a different system all together, the sizes may vary... like my FlySky GT3B system; it's 3 channel receiver is quite a bit smaller than the Traxxas 5 channel receiver.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

Check out traxxas part number "1926" i used to use one of them awhile ago, It will allow you too wrap the extra up and cut the tube to the length you want.
