Should I just replace the stock servo or upgrade to something with a steel or titanium gears?
It just depends on what you want. I would just replace unless the gears if they are broken. The stock servos are actually pretty great servos and will last a while. I ran mine for 4+ years and replaced the gears maybe 5 times a piece.
The main reason I upgraded was that I needed the servos in other trucks. When I cannabalized them it allowed me to upgrade the E-revo to something much better.
I went with a Hitec 7954

Sure it'll work, watch this
I run two Futaba BLS152 brushless servos with a total of 860.6 oz. No comparison when it comes to steering precision, response and reliability.
