    Will Castle 780kv fit xo-1???

I have a Castle 780 kv motor that I want to install into my xo-1. Can this be done? And if so, what modifications will have to be made for fitment? Thanks.

I believe the can itself is too large to physically fit without significant modification to the chassis and motor mount. You may have to get some custom parts made for it to work.

Just how big the motor can? Others running 5 scale motors with 5692/5682 can but, it need some modding on the mount or buy one from high gear rc.

Also, with that motor, you would have to run 12s to get it to spin as fast as the stock one. So, unless you can gear it way up and get 12s lipo, you may actually run slower than what the stock motor can do in that car.

I believe it's rated for 8s but it's so huge I'm sure you could compensate with gearing if you could find a pinion that big.

at 40T/46T gear with a ratio of 1.15:1 that should get you going fast on 8s

A 40/46t combo is going to be 18% higher than the included 34/46 combo. If you run the 2028 on 8s, to match the speed of the 1717 on 6s, you'd need a gear ratio that's ~58% higher.

Highest stock gearing with stock 1650kv motor is 34 pinion, 46 spur, which translates to 121mph theoretically (i.e. unloaded) at 3,7v per cell on 6S.

Highest possible gearing using that Ebay pinion adaptor and Traxxas Revo 3.3 parts is 42 pinion, 34 spur, this would translate to 129mph with 780kv on 8S.

Only other source of Mod1 pinions with 8mm bore that I know is Kershaw Designs, they go up to 60t which would translate to 184mph with a 34t spur gear.
