I have another STC body planned for this operation, however I'm thinking now I should get a buggy body or maybe something like an E-Revo.... just so the tracks throw snow outside of the body.

I got 2 JConcepts LCG Overtrays for this snow operation, however I'm thinking a specific snowbuggy looking machine may be fun

sounds like a great plan viperz.....and I know a man of your calibre can pull it off with ease......exciting stuff

Is it just me or does it lift the truck higher off the ground?

Thanks. Wow, this truck flies! I love as it cartwheels after hitting some bumps at full throttle, and lands on the wheels and off it goes again. A few follow up questions:
    1) what fan do you recommend, and is it easy to install?
    2) What temp is too hot? I thought if I wasn't on full throttle the whole time, I'd be fine... The motor did get pretty hot with the 11.1. It probably isn't help that it was insulated with lots of dry brush that found its way in to the chassis.
    3) There is a small red wire with a small red rectangular end tha comes out of the motor, and tucks in next to the ESC. What is that for? What plugs into that?
    4) any good posts you recommend for me to learn about pinions? Which one comes on the Ultimate, and do I really want to mess around with changing it out?

Nope, your eyes are good, they truck is higher for 2 reasons. 1) the center of the axle is higher on the Cat Track than a 17mm tire. 2) I've cracked down on the coilovers to get maximum height.

I used an Integy single fan heat sink n the motor, and the stock Traxxas fan on the ESC

They typically say about 175F max

That's a power take off for a motor fan or ESC fan. You will need to make a Y splitter to connect both.

Not off hand, but read your manual. Typically the lower the pinion the more torque, same for the spur Yes!! you should mess around in there as that is part of knowing what RC is all about. Stock gearing is 13/54

Snowed a little last night... Not enough to really test the snow tracks, but enough that it makes me think I should swap out to snow tires on the full size cars, and get some others ready for winter storage, full size and RC...

More like "Good night M, XO-1, Rally/GT8...." "Hello winter tracked Ultimate and SUVs!!"

Took some time and installed the JConcepts over tray. I thought one of these may not be a bad idea, for the winter action, but snow really spin drifts, and it's probably going to get packed in there anyway.

Oh well, because the tray was designed for a standard LCG chassis, I had to make modifications to the Rx area to make it fit. I also cut the tray longer than normal so accommodate this custom fitment. The Photos below should explain it all.

    JConcepts LCG over tray

Needed to be fitted taller than normal due the placement of my Rx box

Even then it was not enough so I had to make some mods

A heat gun to the nose of the tray then pulled over the chassis and Rx box worked well

Velcro'ed in place ready to roll!

No, it needs a body, otherwise it's just an RC chassis, no class in that

I'm waiting for a snow day to get it captures, but may have to just get one of it rolling around on grass and dirt.

Okay, so one thing I know will happen is snow sticking to the body and add 10 pounds to the truck. Unless you want to lower it....

How would lowering it help? Maybe I need to add a 1515-2200kv with a 6s?

Keep us well updated ViperZ, I'm eye balling a set in blue but will patiently wait a review.
I'm thinking about trying them in my 2650 setup.
Then again a snow track Rally would look awesome as well.

Thanks!, The shutter speed varies from shot to shot. Most times I use the camera in Aperture Priority, in that I select the aperture and the camera chooses the shutter speed based on available light. During action shots I will use Shutter Priority, and let the camera select the aperture. The speed I select depends on the effect I'm looking for. For blurred backgrounds use a slower shutter speed, <1/100 and a steady hand. For frozen motion shots use>1/400. Hope that helps!

What a terrific Thread u got there bro.

As for the chassis dying, U have to boil it. So keepin it on the stove top, and keeping it boiling for over 20 minutes at least. I keep mine in for ever.

Amazing work, and really enjoyed it... Only got through page 8 this time, and wil have to continue reading later its so extensive Excellent stuff

Thanks AbSoLooT1! I dyed my Rally chassis by letting it soak for about 1 hour in boiled water, it's holding up so far, but it's mainly on road.

    • First was the Spaz Stix Chrome Grill and side moldings.
    • Then the Lame Flake in the back section followed with black backer
    • Pearl white base for the main body color
    • Tiger stripe masking on the side
    • Fluorescent Green paint followed with white backer paint

    • Spaz Stik Chrome Stripe followed with Aluminum silver paint
