So I bought a used ERBE for cheap and immediately replaced the trashed revo 3.3 body and stock wheels and tires. I then quickly realized the Esc and motor were prob not going to last long(which they didn't).
I picked up a MM2 220kv setup and a castle link. The gearing when I got it was 20/65. I switched to the 18/54 set up recommended by many and it's waaaay to torquey. So I changed to an 18/58 still stupid torque. I then went to a 20/58. And you guessed it to much torque.
I'm running 2x2s 5800 30c lipos. I haven't gotten real familiar with the castle link yet. If I'm at 1/2 throttle and tap full it's all up on the wheelie bar. I'm also running trenchers. I run alot of pavement but honestly it's about the same on grass or dirt. Just hard to control. Any suggestions?

too much torque? Why don't you go back to 65 spur ?
Lots of people can only wish for the torque we have the MMM.
Throttle management maybe.

I've been running a wheelie bar. Was just curious how most with the mm2 setup have been utilizing the castle link? I'm just curious what guys are setting for timing, throttle curve etc. just seems like I can't utilize all the MM2 power efficiently. I also don't want to run gearing that will cause heat issues. Would a 20-23 pinion 65 spur be ok?
bigger spur = less heat
Try adjusting the clutch.
I do like to keep the clutch pretty tight. Guess thats my problem. What it is 1/2 turn from snug ?

detune the punch a little.......... the percent is backwards of what you think it would be. Also you keep going lower in gearing so it is going to give you more torque, gear it up 18/54 to 21/54
to low of gearing is just as bad as to high of gearing...at causing things to run hot...
throttle control helps too

If you are running an aluminum clutch pads and pressure plate you may need to go more than 1/2 turn.
