I'm running Lipo batteries, so I get longer run time. I switched my pinion gear from a 19T to a 16T which I guess will help. I did run it today and noticed they're still getting pretty warm. Not as hot as before but still hot. I hate to have to stop and wait for them to cool down all the time. So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to keep the motors cool so I can run longer?? Or how to get the motors to cool down quicker? I just hate sitting and waiting for the motors to cool, when I have plenty of battery left to run..
similar items as this help. to be honest i had a hard time keeping my 550's cool on lipos. i ended up going brushless

I'm not krazy. My mother had me tested.
I would go with a true finned heatsink, with or without a fan. A finned heatsink is passive cooling, depending on air blowing through the body to cool it, so make sure there is openings in the body. Without fins and only a fan, to me alot of the heat transfer is lost.
I was leaning to something like this with oversized fins
Or a hybrid fan fin setup like this
Just because it has fans doesn't mean you have to use them.

Ok, so how mush is it to go brushless? Do the motors run cooler, I know they go a lot faster. I'm up in WA so I'd like, to be able to run this in the snow. I heard once you go brushless, its strictly dry conditions. I contacted on the seller on those fans a few weeks ago and he stated they were to small for my truck. Dunno honestly..
There is a great thread on the E Maxx brushed section where they are discussing going brushless and some of the motors and esc's.
