Can Someone give me a short Gearing Lesson ?
For example my Nitro Slash has a 72T Spur Gear and a 20T Clutch Bell
If i use a smaller or bigger Clutch Bell what would happen ? would it get faster on top end or gain more torque on the low end.
Samething for the Spur Gear if i were to go smaller or bigger what would happen ?
I'm guessing it comes down to, with that 20T, moving the spur gear 20 times per rotation, so with a 24T you move it 24 times per rotation, thus giving higher top end speed. Same concept for the spur, if you lose teeth you will gain high end
I've figured it out, But just incase anyone else whats to
benefit from what I've learned then here ya to.
Figuring Gear Ratios
* = Divide
x = Muiltiply
Gear Ratio = Spur Gear * Teeth On Clutch Bell
Final Drive Ratio = Transmission Ratio x Gear Ratio
More Top End = Smaller Final Drive Ratio. (AKA Tall Gearing)
More Low End = Larger Final Drive Ratio. (AKA Short Gearing)
I'll use my slash as an example
My Transmission Ratio = 2.81
My Spur Gear = 72T
My Clutch = 20T
72 * 20 = 3.6
2.81 x 3.6 = 10.1
So my Final Drive Ratio is 10.1:1
Getting that number lower will give me more top end speed
Getting that number higher will give me more low end speed and torque on acceleration.
You still have to be careful becuz if you gear it to high I'm sure you could blow your engine.
You've got the right idea but there's still a little math involved.

I've mentioned dozens of other times in the past: think of the clutch bell/pinion gears being attached to the pedals of your bicycle and the rear gearset is like the spur gear. Change gears and what happens?
