    eBay knock off parts

First of all, I'm new to RC world. I've been slowly upgrading my Rally car.
Doing a bit of research, I'm wonder - how are the eBay aluminum knock offs?
I was looking at the Team Blue Star shocks for my Rally and saw these:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alloy-Front-...item2eb764986d

At first I thought they were TBS... but TBS are not available in blue. I figure, they are the same shocks but sold from under TBS since TBS made the mistake of ordering the manufacturing in China. And that's a common practice: Chinese factory gets specs for manufacturing parts, makes order, delivers order, quietly continues to produce the product and sell through other channels for less (free R'n'D).

I dug deeper and found quite a few parts all over eBay that are identical to brand name components but are sold as "XXX part for XXX car" without any brand name anywhere.

Surely, this is isn't a revelation to you, guys. But I didn't notice any threads on this, so I ask here.

    TIA for any info

A lot of that stuff is hit or miss, the aluminum tends to be cheap and the machining not very high quality. But who knows they may be a great find. Give them a shot and let us know

I don't know if I would trust those shocks. I would get either of these.

For shocks I'd highly recommend what Sierravmax noted. I run both and they are excellent. For nearly the same amount of money you know you are getting a good shock and can get rebuild kits easily. You usually get what you pay for so saving a buck here and there might cost you more in the end. For alloy parts i'd suggest Traxxas, STRC, and such. Just don't buy anything 'Integy'.

Yes, for bigger vehicles, I wouldnt go with the RC Damper stuff, they make great shocks for VTA/TCs tho.

GTRs and Associated V2 or those SCTE shocks are great choices. and would probably last a lot longer.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. However, I couldn't pass up the deal for the same shocks as eBay listing but at $15 cheaper. I think it's worth the risk. If they are at least better than stock plastics, I'm ok with that.

I would stick with brand name take-offs like the ones sierra posted above. Those no-name shocks will probably leak on the first run and you'll never find parts for them.

It's a roll of the dice... Me, I'd stick with a reputable Mfr over a knock off, at least I know what I'm buying and less chances of having problems....
