Merv Makes Clicking Sound. Please help!

Hi guys today I was playing with my 2 new 2s lipos in my brushed merv. I accidentally ran it into a trucks's
tire and now it make this weird clicking noise. It sounds like it is coming from the back end of the car, which
is weird because it was the front end that hit the tire. I'm not totally sure where the noise is coming from
though . I didn't take it apart but nothing appears to be broken. When I apply the throttle all for wheels spin but it makes a strange clicking sound. It even clicks when I roll it across the ground. Dis something just get jostled loose?

Here is a link to my video that shows the clicking noise. Sorry about the quality. It was made with my cell
    phone in a hurry.

You could have stripped the rear diff
When the car stopped quickly the rear tires were spinning and had to stop suddenly also

If its clicking... It's the diffs.

Don't be affraid to take your truck apart, you can't break what's already broken.

Yeah I know. I just broke my chassis a couple of weeks ago. Do you know the part number for the differential?

you have to take 3 screws out -it's part of the whole unit.you will have two plates -one on each side with spider gears in the middle. you will understand when you see it. you will also need some 50k diff oil to replace the fluid

Is the 50k diff oil the stock oil or no?

The 50k fluid is standard and is pre-filled in the diff, but sends too much of the power to the front wheels.
I would recommend using a higher weight fluid, and is using 100k myself.

Ok thanks! I noticed when I took the motor off of the car, the clicked stoped. As soon as I put the motor back on, it started again. What is the name of the gear that connects to the pinion gear on the motor? Is this the spur gear? I noticed that it had 2 spots on it where about 5 or 6 gears on each spot were stripped (they looked like they had been smashed down). could this be the source of the clicking?

Yes the spur. And yes a bad spur can slip and make a clicking noise

How many teeth does the stock spur have? Should I use a lower tooth count since I run 2s lipos in parallel? Also, should I get a metal spur or stick with plastic?

Stick with plastic! Stock is 50t
Gearing depends on engine and esc temp, tire size and terrain

My esc and motor never gets hot. It barely gets warm.. I have the stock tires and I do all terrain driving.

Smaller spurs make you go faster... and are harder on the system.

And another vote for sticking to plastic.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
