So I have read 100 threads on the LST2 diff mod and I am ready to take the plunge....
But I want to know what I actually need to buy to get this job done.
Recently I did the single steering conversion with a Hitec 79XX servo and am stoked with the upgrade. However before doing it a lot of people say you need a servo horn, single arm ( get Aluminium) etc. However when I bought my servo (NIB) it came with an Aluminium servo horn and you don't need ANYTHING else to do the conversion. Just install servo, plug into receiver, use the stock parts plus the horn you get and your done - only need to buy a servo.
1) What do I actually need for the LST2 diff mod?
2) Is this the diff I need? It seems it comes with the centre driveshaft? Do I need this? Coz there is a slightly cheaper one that doesn't come with the shaft.
3) Do I need to do the front and rear diffs? Did those who have done it buy two and mod both?
4) Can I use the Traxxas CVD driveshafts and centre shafts I already have? What about the output cups? Can I install my ones onto the output shafts of the LST2 diffs and then use my drive and centre shafts?
I really want to do this mod as I am sick of fixing diffs, and I have heard so many good things about this mod, but I am worried about doing it and don't want to buy things I don't need.
If I can just install the new diffs, attach my drive ups (slightly longer ones for extended arms to prevent popping out with RPM arm flex), connect up my CVD centre and drive shafts and away I go, that would be awesome!

yes those are the diffs you need.you don't need it with the drive shaft.i did both on mine so i would recommend the same to you.you should be able to use the traxxas cvd axles since i use summit axles.the center drive shafts i ordered from kershaw designs.you might need to shoot him an email an tell him you are doing the lst2 diff mod on your erevo and you need the center drive shafts.when i first did mine i had mips in it so i just made the 6mm end into an 8mm but since i switched to the ones from kershaw.you do know you need to mod the bulkheads and you need a set of stock axle ends to cut off and put in the lst2 diff
Thank you! Yes I do know that I need to mod the bulkhead - not looking forward to it though, have heard it is easy to take off too much material and compromise the strength if the bulkhead.
As for the stock axle ends to cut off and put in the lst2 diff - I have read that, and I have stock axles from when I put the CVDs in, but I don't really get what I have to do here?
I would love to get my hands on an lst2 diff so I can see what it will look like and how it will fit into the bulkhead, how the three shafts will attach, what the drive cups look like etc but living in Australia I will need to order the diffs, wait 2-3 weeks for delivery, find out that I need other things, order them, wait another 2-3 weeks.
Find mistercrashes thread and it had absolutely everything you need to do the mod along with Craig's thread between the those two threads you will have everything you need to know that's how I did mine and it was super easy

if i were you i'd go onto kershaw designs website and order the center drive shafts now.i dont think they are listed but you can email dan at kershaw and get them ordered now.when you get your diffs you will have to take them apart and pay attention where the shims are and remove the big sun gears and the remove the cups that comes with the losi diff.then you need to remove the end off the stock axle thats is threaded.then you need to cut off the threaded part and put them back in the losi diff where the cups come out.and then put the diff all back together
Yep, mistercrash even did torture test, by performing over 100 standing backflips, and the car was still going strong after. Including diffs and driveshafts. Incredible.
Could not wish I wish Brissy any more right now! would love some help with this mod because it is clear that it is a great mod and well worth doing, but not knowing exactly what to do, what everything looks like, and how it fits together, it is a little daunting!

Don't get me wrong, Mitch316 & mister rash etc. your threads are amazing & I could never put together such a comprehensive guide, but without having the parts needed in front of me it seems difficult & i really don't want to order the diffs only to find out I need driveshafts or centre driveshafts or drive cups as well because the losi diffs wont work with the traxxas CVD's and then have to wait another 3 weeks!
Oh and to even think about 100 standing backflips and to still have working diffs.... Ridiculous! So this mod must be done

No worries mate...if you were near by I would certainly help. I too new not much about the mod...at the time of doing the mod there were no complete diffs for sale on eBay so I had to by in parts to build one. I used mistercrash and revorollers LST2 mods as reference when I did mine.
My mod is with the Traxxas CVD's and Losi yolk as the Losi pinion is 10mm whereas the Traxxas pinion is 8mm...I've had great success with this mod.

All this info should see you right for the mod...It was also daunting for me the first time I did it but once I began there was nothing to it. I haven't been using my trucks much as its been raining on and off all the time since Australia day.

i dont really like to correct people but the losi diff is 8mm and the traxxas is 6mm.the only reason i know for sure is i drilled my MIP center drive shaft ends with a 5/16 drill bit which is the same as 8mm.i filled the outside of my bulks where we cut threw with jb weld and they are holding up very nice.good luck with your mod and its worth it in the end

Just watched a video of a kid on YouTube going through this mod and he said that his front traxxas cvd's don't reach far enough into the drivecups after doing the mod? Can I use my CVD centre shafts and driveshafts or not??
So confused and daunted...
For the center, you will need to do some modding, or get RC monster drive cups for 8mm shafts. Your center CVD only fit to 6mm shafts, the losi input shaft is 8mm. So you need to drill out the traxxas CVD to 8mm
I went with the losi XXL axles and the kershaw center dogbone kit. Complete 1/8 scale drive train, should be able to withstand 6s ^^
Just to throw this out there... kind of un-related. The reason we suggest doing an aluminum servo horn and steering arm for a single servo install is because A: Not ALL servos come with an aluminum horn... most dont. B: A strong enough single servo will FLEX the stock plastic steering arm and can break it. Ive broken mine on my summit. Often the list of parts is not whats needed to do a mod the CHEAP way... we list whats needed to do a mod the RIGHT way.
