    Punctured SPC Lipo

Well, My Slash took a bad crash and ejected my soft case 8200mah Lipo. Punctured the battery and now is leaking some smelly gas. I am pretty sure it is not under warranty, so I just threw $50 away. Good thing I am selling some of my other stuff to make money!

Stay away from the "smelly gas" and anything else that comes out of the cells. Sorry for your loss.

I put it in dirt with a bucket over it so it doesn't get rained on. I am checking it every five minutes to see if it does anything. Is it going to blow up???

Explosion: probably not. Ever seen what happens to a propane tank that is on fire and blowing from the relief valve? Keep it in the bucket of dirt and far from the house or any other combustible materials as it has the probability of starting on fire.

Allow the pack to set in the bucket of sand and far away from anything flammable for several days. Then contact your local electronics stores and ask if any of them will take the pack for recycling.

Can the battery be neutralized in salt water then thrown in the trash like some claim?

Sorry to hear about the loss of the battery. Can't wait to get a set of those batteries for my Summit, though.
What broke, uh, needs upgrading now?

They are awesome in the Summit. Sadly though, my Summit is out of commission because this was one of it's two batteries. I am definitely getting more for my Summit when I get the money. I will probably get a hardcase for my slash now though.

If it would have caught on fire, my whole slash would be toast.

Ya, that would have sucked. How did the battery fall out? Wouldn't the battery holder keep it in the Slash? Or was the crash so bad it broke the holder?

The battery ejected because of the way I had it secured in there. Lets just say that you never want to tape a battery down. Lol

First time a lipo puffed, I chucked it into the back yard like a hand grenade. I figured it would blow or catch on fire but never did. It sat there a few days then I disposed of it.

You can only do the salt water method after discharging the lipo as low as you can. To late now as it is leaking already.

I would've atleast used velcro, or some shoestring even. Was it like Scotch tape, or duct tape?

Why on earth would you use duct tape to secure your battery?
I guess, take it as a lesson learned

I had no velcro, and I thought there was no use to mod the chassis a week before I upgrade to a Carbon Fiber LCG Chassis.

Ok. Good to know. So if it was just a worn out battery that would work.
