Motor Spacers Work!
A friend had a bit of white vinyl that was just the right thickness to fit between the gap of the blades and the motor on the QR-1. He used a punch to make small round bits of vinyl the size of the top of the motor and then drilled small holes in the middle. They look like a washer that just fits the gap between the motor and the blade.
I was flying Monday in a Gym and due to some spectacular poor flying I managed to hit a metal bar going across the top of the gym around 30+ feet up. Then even more poor flying cause a tumble and a 30+ foot fall to the gym floor upside down.
Three of the arms popped out and had to be snapped in from underneath but other then that... NO damage...
While I can never be 100% sure the spacers saved the motors... Based on the minor crash that caused a motor fail without the spacers and this impact with the spacers.... I am almost sure they saved the QR-1!
Glad to here your successful crash story. Btw as of 3-6-13 traxxas is giving spacers away for free. Just call and ask for them and there you are.
You are right.... $3.00 a set... so I bought 2 sets.... But i also have to pay $15.00 shipping to Canada!
thats crazy. for future reference, cut up a straw from a compressed air can, wd40 can, or capri sun pouch and put em under the blades
