Over the last couple of days I've been messing with the rear shocks trying to get the perfect setup. Right now I have the Axial Scorpion shocks on there and seem like they're going to be a keeper. I wish they had metal caps, but the coated shafts make up for it

After I hooked up everything and tested the truck last week, I found that the Tenshock was reversed and I thought the only way to switch it was the castle link. Turns out if you switch the throttle direction in the radio and flip the axle's diff, everything goes back to normal. After I finally figured that out and was ready to test it, it started raining... So this morning I finally had a chance to really test the new motor. At the same gearing as the 3800kv (14/40), this thing was flying even though the ground was wet. I didn't go full speed but I can tell this thing is a monster, and it stays much cooler, even without the heatsink.

Switched the shocks back to the stand-offs.

Also made a skin for the bottom.

Quick question; Seeing and reading this thread from the start, it inspired me. I've always wanted an on road car, and I've also always wanted to build my own car. So why not combine the two? I'm planning on making it a solid axle just because I think that's awesome; but I can't decide which one I want. I think it's going to look something like a dragster so it's going to have to handle some Torque and speed, which is where my question comes in; Any ideas on which solid axle I should get? I'm hopefully going to fit it all under the body (wheels included). Thanks for all responses before hand.

Yeah I would really want that axle for my build even though it's a little pricey. It's discontinued, though I've heard a little bit about rc4wd continuing it spring next year or something. As of now, I think you would have to buy it from somebody else to get it.

Yep those are the drive shafts. Depending on your build, you might have to splice the second one to make one longer shaft like mine had before. Since has 10 available I would buy 2 for some extras in case the first one doesn't work out.

    Now about the axles.

A couple of years ago when the Hardcore kit came out it was very popular, I have no idea what caused them to stop making the kit and the parts. I saw a couple used kits for sale a while back, but that was before I knew anyone that wanted one. I know the hardcore is the best option, but the HPI Wheely King axle is still an option, even though it takes a couple extra parts.

    Ideal-RC goes into more detail:

the next best thing that could take the hardcore axle is the rc4wd wraith center diff axle... aluminum, wide enough, and you have a variety of gears to choose from, that's what I decided on for mine

is that a complete axle? would still need to get the gearing for it right? what sizes?

and what do you think about this axle?

You still need to get the diff cover, lock outs, diff and gears... the hpi firestorm gears work and a few others. I used the wraith axle in my last truck and have a bunch of leftover parts so that's another reason it appealed to me, and rc4wd has it on special for $100

Hey cycon do you use a spool in your axle? If so how do you like it? I'm gonna try to get one today. Also for shocks try the proline powerstrokes, I have them and there is no shock out there that I can even compare them to.

I like those too but unfortunately I had a lil bad luck with them so I went big and got 1/8 shocks

is there any place i can buy it as a complete axle? this is new ground for me so i don't want to buy everything separate if i don't need to, i don't want to end up getting the wrong parts that don't fit. I use to mostly work on 2 traxxas nitro sports and a tmaxx, all nitro.

If not, can you link all the parts that are needed to complete it and that are compatible please?, also what Transmission should i use? if i used the SCTE diff i would need to weld also or is there a way around this?

I agree, I'm used to individual axles. The only problem I'm having is if the diffs will be able to handle what I plan to put into them (a bunch of torque and lots of speed)

A parts list for the rear end would be nice. just assume that i have everything from the motor to the chassis, now i need a axle, diff and gears and drive shafts that are all compatible and will i need to modify any of them or can it all go together and ready to run?

The RC4WD wraith axle would have been my back up if I didn't get the hardcore. If you get the housing you'll also have to buy the Axial internal gears and the other parts separate. The hardcore was the cheapest option, but out of the other alternatives this one's going to be the most expensive.

Just posted some links above. That ballistic axle you posted isn't going to work, 1) it's a front axle and 2) it will be too narrow.

Once I got past sanding two even notches on the bar the rest was easy to setup. Just from testing it in the street yesterday and today they've been good so far. The ground was wet so I was drifting it around and it felt really stable. Time will tell how long they last, I hope they don't strip out like 96motorhead's.

The hardcore axle doesn't use a spool, the two axles have notches so they lock in place inside the diff. I've been thinking about getting some powerstrokes, It's weird that we haven't come across a slash with some with all the trading we do. If anything I might get a set of the springs to use on the big bores.

You can either get a Ten-T(48t spur) or SCTE center diff(44t apur). I found a prebuilt scte diff from an rc website that I can't remember, the ones below are sold, but those are the parts you'll need if you want to do it. There's no other way I can think of to use this without welding in that axle part.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Losi-Ten-SCT...p2054897.l4276

And you'll also need these parts to complete it:

Oh your axle is open I thought it had a spool. My hobby store didn't have a spool unfortunately so I shimmed the spider gears super tight and it handles so much better offroad.

just to follow up with other fellas already answered to this here is my list of part I've ordered to use in on truck (not ADs):

    1. fomi lockouts: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141114762446) ~ $13
    2. axial rear diff: http://www.ebay.com/itm/390571537802) ~ $17
    3. rc4wd centered axle housing: http://store.rc4wd.com/Aluminum-Rear...k-_p_2495.html ~ $100 (w/o shipping)
    4. Trailing arms and rod ends: http://store.rc4wd.com/Hardcore-Scal...rm_p_1093.html) ~ $50 (w/o shipping)
    5. ST Racing Concepts Aluminum V2 HD Differential Cover: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...al-Cover-Black ~ $16.49 (w/o shipping)
    6. HPI Differential Bevel Gear Set (10T/13T): http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ar-Set-10T-13T - $7.29 (w/o shipping)

Well some of those parts may be replaced with budget ones, i.e. axle housing could be switched to Wraith stock plastic which is about $25 (including diff) instead of $100+$17. Also it's hard to get trailing arms from RC4WD so look at Cycon's advices for other options, I just got luck with those by putting myself into waiting RC4WD list for that item for a few weeks and ordered them once they got back in stock for a day or two

P.S. about fumi lockouts - those things are amazing, cheap and good quality (well at least better than plastic onces I guess). Here they are installed:

Well, any of Axial-type axles has common parts: 1. Housing; 2. Differential; 3. Driveshafts; and Lockouts for the rear or Steering knuckle for the front. So lockouts are necessary part if you are going to use Axial Rear Housing or any other rear housing (incomplete axle). Those lockouts will hold driveshaft's end.

Aw thank you Gimm im not familiar with the Axial, also in his list is HPI Differential Bevel Gear Set (10T/13T) where do these go and it will work with the axial im assuming? it says "This is a replacement HPI Differential Bevel Gear Set, and is intended for use with the HPI Sprint, Sprint 2, Nitro RS4 3, Mini-Trophy and MT2 vehicles. This set can also be used optionally with the HPI Wheely King truck."

Also the ones you linked are Fumi Alloy Rear Axle Lock-out (2) for Axial Wraith - 30017bk (BLACK)

is there any part difference with 30017bk and 20010bk or is that just the color?
