1. ## 2650kv gearing help!!!

I upgraded my current e revo to brushless from being brushed. When I purchased the mamba monster 2 combo for my e revo, I made a rookie mistake of thinking higher kv means better. I purchased the 2650 kv instead of the 2200kv. I do not plan on running 6s anytime soon which would be hard to do with a 2650kv motor. I do not have the funds yet to purchase ANOTHER motor so I want to make due with what I have for the time being. What would be an ideal gearing for the 2650 motor? I run mostly on grass and off road surfaces more than I do on the road. I want a gearing that will keep the temperatures somwhat low without sacrificing to much power and speed. I am getting the fan for the motor today so that should help with the temperatures for a bit.

2. I would try 18/54 to start......

On 2/2S lipo with the 2650kv motor:
18/68 = 35mph
18/62 = 38mph
18/58 = 41mph
18/54 = 44mph
20/54 = 49mph

A temp gun is kind of a must have.....

Hot motor + cool esc = under geared.
Cool motor + hot esc = over geared
Everything warm just right..

Motor ~ 180/190*F (82/88*C) maximum, ideally 140/160*F (60/71*C), temps can be 10*F higher inside the motor
ESC ~ pretty much same temps / Fan comes on @ 150*F (65*C)
Lipo's ~ 140*F (60*C) max, ideally 100/120*F (38/49*C).........

Diff ratio

4s = 40 mph
5s = 50 mph
6s = 60 mph

change the cell count, spur & pinion count, & tire size.

3. Thank you!!! I am looking to sell my 2650kv in the mean time. Want to get the 2200kv and be all set!!! Quick question...what would the speeds be with the 2200kv with common gearings? Would the 2200kv be good for all around bashing?

21/54 high 40's to low 50's.........mph
Yes......

5. I ran 18/58 on 4s very comfortably without breaking a sweat. Could possibly have gone 20/58 but did not really need it. Plenty of torque and enough speed for bashing. Temps were around the 140's and esc fan on occasionally. I also would let esc fan continue to run at the end of the session if it was running at that time. Purely guess speeds of about 45 or so.

6. You ran your revo with the 2650kv mamba monster motor?

7. Yes, and in several configurations:http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...e-beginning...

8. You like it? What made you go with that and not the 2200?

9. Yes I like it. Started as a motor for a Slash 4x that could also push the E-Revo. Worked out for less weight as well. The 2650 is 2 oz lighter. I also knew I would only be running 4s.

10. That is true...I guess I never thought of it that way. I agree with you on the battery capacity. I do not plan on running 6s anytime soon. Do not see the point of having to buy parts everyday . I am just unsure if this motor was the right choice because most people use the 2200 kv and not the 2650 but I look at why and they use 6s.
