    Metal spur gear question

What would be the negatives of using a metal spur gear? Thanks

Just guessing here...I wonder if Traxxas wants the spur gear to strip first, lest adverse energy be transmitted into a part that's more expensive and/or difficult to repair.

But what do I know? I'm a noob.

Better to strip a spur gear than an internal gear!!
