OK, was running NMiH batteries in parrallel and doing slow to average speed runs around the local skate park. The car just stopped running after about 30 mins run time. Checked the LEDs and the one on the REC was flashing red fast.
Let the car cool down for a while.
Replaced the batteries with fresh ones.
Now the car simply won't turn on unless the transmitter is switch OFF. If I then switch the transmitter on the LEDs on both the ESC and REC turn straight off and nothing happens when I press the ESC button.
Anyone know what's died on me?
Thanks in advance.
un plug the steering servo and try it
Welcome to Traxxas.com Yes, EVERYONE here IS a Pro Racer.... [/sarcasm]
OK, cool. With the steering servo unplugged it turns on and the motor runs fine.
So, does this mean I simply need a new steering servo?
The electronics in the stock servo don't do well with anything beyond a single nmhi... I discovered this with a 2s lipo... Sounds like you need a new servo. I chose to get a servo from over seas, it took about 18 days for delivery, though well worth the wait!
Mini Revo VXL 7107
E-Maxx 3903 - He Lives!
OK, great success. Transplanted the same 2080 servo across from my brushed Mastang and the E-Revo is running again. Need to buy another servo but this will get me going in the meantime.
Have heard that the ******* TGY-390DMH is a decent affordable alternative with dual bearings, and supposedly fits with a little trimming.
Anyone know if this is aplug and play servo for the MERV?
The BlueBird 390 is the servo we are allowed to discuss due to Traxxas policy.
I feel it is a 95%+ drop in.
BlueBird 390 Set Up
All stock hardware is used.
NONE of the hardware included is needed!
There are tab braces that do not allow the servo guard to sit flush.
IT IS OPTIONAL TO REMOVE THEM.
I have done this both ways without any adverse reactions.
Here is a picture of the braces:
(thanks goes to danielhr77 for the picture)
The tab braces create a small gap between the chassis and the servo guard.
Here is how it plugs in:
You will also need to reverse the servo direction.
These are the steps for LINK and TQi radios:
Hold MENU for 3 seconds
2 Green Blinks
8 Green Blinks
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
