    Best gearing

I have a stock merv. I'm running a 7.4 lipo. 2200 mah 35c 50c burst. What's the best pinion gear size for speed? I running the speed gearing because it keeps the motor a little cooler. What would be a good t count?

That would depend on you temps. But for a single speed run on 2s you could run about 32t for some good speeds

Right now you should be going about 26. With 32/43 you'll have some high temps but it should top 40 .

I'm not looking for speed runs just bashing and driving fast on pavement them slowing down to jump a curb. I know with the factory bigger gear the thing is really fast. But the motor gets hot. I'll usea temp gun. What should it safely be at?

    You did say speed!
If it gets up to 160 or more I would let it cool. Whatever it reads its hotter inside the motor
Try a 26 pinion good balance between the two

Like 50 said, 26t is good depending on your outside temperature
I stayed with 25t/50 spur for mainly no heat issues running in the summertime
A bit more torque than the 28t speed pinion n less top speed
