do you have any custom bodies for this 6x6 build. i dont know about a stretched merv body. but i have seen the 1/10th 6x6 summit stretched with another wheel well.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=BoBW1uMOO8o a mini summit body 6x6 would be a beast.

didnt mean to put a summit vid on your thread. just a body idea for the mini summit.

It is a good idea, the only problem i see, is that my merv have an articulated back, so a rigid body like this would interfere with the moving rear end... but i'm always open to suggestions, that problem is not solved yet, and thanks for your suggestion!

Hi everyone, i tought it would be a good idea to put some update on my projects! So, i've been testing my 6x6 setup for durability, and..., like 50togo said, it was not strong enough. Then, i came up with a 4 links desing... Take a look!

    here is a closer look!

And those are my new babies!

They are great! I'll put a vid of the 6x6 setup soon!

Thank you for the comment, it is a rather complicated project, but very fun to achieve. Have you managed to solidify the frame of your project? And how did you connect your electronic? i think your tire would be a very good option!

Hi everyone, i went to test the 6x6 on 4s today! It looks very interesting, but there is alot of work to be done yet.
    Look!
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resi...A908BB75F2!535
result of the first run: broken left bottom A-arm(did not noticed at the time). in the second run: 1 or 2 diff stripped, i didn't checked yet.
i think i need to upgrade some parts!

Ok, i've been through some analisys of the data from my vid and my lhs tech.

The things i think i need to upgrade on the 6x6 setup are:
    a) aluminium body mount for added stiffness(frame twisting)(what are your suggestions?)
    b) i need some tips on how to make the rear end lineup with the rest of the truck(i think it is misaligned)
    c) Does somebody knows someone who can replicate my custom rear bulkhead in aluminuim(something like HR aluminium rear bulkhead)
    d) i really need the new HR summit vxl diffs!

That is all i can think of for now do you have any suggestions and ideas?!!!

    thanks!

Hi guys, i know it'been a long time since my last update on this post, but, after many tests, i confirm to everyone, my merv is the king of all 1/16! i received my 2 3s lipo and i tried tto run the beast... all wheelies and full speed flips!!!! But i didn't work on the 6x6 project, i can't find anyone to make the costom rear bulkhead i have made out of aluminium. i will post a vid of 3s 31/50 test =run soon!

Hey, just one question; does your merv still have a reasonable turning radius?

Yes, it still have the same turning radius as the factory ones. Only the handling is affected... it is a bit top heavy, like having a big block in it, and i need stiffer shocks.

    Twin VXL3S 1/16 E-Revo

Not to rain on your parade, but ive done this with 2 brushless systems.
    It is insane crazy.

Made a custom motor plate, had to get rid of the receiver box.

Managed to cram it all under the stock body. From first glance, the only thing different is summit bumpers.

    I will post pictures soon

I havent done the 6x6 mod, and my motors are mounted side by side.
Cool to see your setup, keep up the good work.

Hi, i hope to see those pictures soon!My merv is running this setup on 3s, for two years now... And it is still running strong. The only things that breaks are a-arm and diff rings. I'v upgraded to hr aluminium bulkheads front and rear. That merv is fast like no other!

Thanks for letting me know that i am not alone in my insanity!lol!

First, the picture needs to be uploaded to a web host; like photobucket, flicker, or even a locked folder on facebook (like I do). Then after it is uploaded; you view the picture online, right click, and select "copy image location". At this point you come back to the forum and select the third icon from the right; the one that says "image" when you hover over it, and paste your image location into the box in the popup, then click "ok". Then the picture will be shown like this:

You have a nice setup! But do you have problems with the weight of the second motor being all the way to the left? I have designed my setup to prevent weight distribution problems! And all my electronics are still completely factory waterproof. You should do a build thread for your truck. It would be very interresting!

Funny enough, no. I havent had any issues with weight. Other than on 2 2s batteries, it sticks to the ground, no wheelies at all. Going to do some gear ratio experiments, and i wanna do a 3s on each system. All except my rx is waterproof. But im only planning on doing speed runs.

Foam tires or XO1 tires, steel spur gear, rally skid plate.

Good to hear, for the weight! If you go 3s, i STRONGLY recommend to buy alot of diffs, and upgrade your bulkheads to HR aluminium ones, and SHIM them. For the wheels, i would recommend to stick with size similar to the stock ones. The amount of torque you have will snap the driveline, even with stock tires. Believe me, i went through alot with my little monster!
