I was unhappy with my original restoration! so i found a version 1 Nitro Hawk on ebay, and got to work, i swapped the chassis's and painted my original chassis, the version 1 chassis was almost mint... i restored my original hawk to MINT condition and restored the version 1 with spare parts & i had a trx pro .15 from my old Nitro 4-tec Pro. bought some new parts also like new fuel tank and new front bumper, fuel lines. And to finish the restoration i found an Original TRX Radio 2020 in mint condition, the only thing it was missing the AA battery holder, but i easily went to radio shack and bought the aa holder...

Ridiculous, good work. I owned rc cars in the 80's never any nitro but you are an artist. Those look like they can compete today with a brand new rig. Excellent craftmanship.
I've got 2 nitro hawks myself, a 1992 white plastic with image .12 and a black plastic TRX .12 unknown year. My 1992 one was quite clean when i got it in October but its bashed weekly, so its a mix of black and white now with the TRX .12 engine in. But its stripped down almost weekly and cleaned after every bashing session which usually involves a trip to the beach too.
Going to mod the other one with disk brake and a 5 port nova rossi race engine I've got lying around - going to require cutting of the chassis but it was bent anyway when i got it - its straight now but its had a hard life lol, and it aint going to get any better any time soon :-)
Make it idiot-proof and along comes a better idiot
That truck is gorgeous. Nearly mint! Amazing job man! I would love to have a vintage for myself. Someday...!

Hey GmoneyGrip, these are my 2 hawks as i received them.
Only the white one is complete as you can see, the black one is for spares but eventually going to be a project to try a disk brake mod out and work out how to but a SG cranked engine in there.
Was at the beach yesterday, and stripped something in the gear box, going to have a look tomorrow and see what the damage is.
Gavin28 - Hey bro SWEET!!! nice u got an original image .12 model & trx .12 model too, i wish i still had my trx .12... i have the original image .12 in decent condition but im not keeping it
For everyone who hasnt seen where it all started, this is my ORIGINAL thread when i first started the restoration but i was very unhappy with the results and started all over again... http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...estore-Project!!!
looks good.. makes me want to restore one.........
I have 1999 t maxx 15 pro. That i am turning into my shelf queen i have all the original paper work and box
I can't wait to do the same thing in twenty years to my revo and jato. If they'll have the parts around. Slowly but surely going to get em both to show quality
Please do take the time to read the rules and post in the proper section.

quick bump for everyone who hasn't seen it...
Cool truck! How's it perform on the track? I'd recommend swapping out the tires. Those "Pro Trax" ones sure wear out quick!
And there he goes with the carbon...
Very nice restoration! Now take it to Pawn Stars!
All those who believe psychokinesis raise my hand

bump for all my Nitro Hawk lovers who hasn't seen my post...
i am new here and was wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing my nitro hawk?
Over 13,000 views is proof the Nitro Hawk was one of the most beloved RTR r/c's Traxxas has ever made... Sweet!!!
I just bought my first Nitro RC two weeks ago and i'm not expert on RC's and I wasn't sure what kind of RC I bought lol.. And it's just like this one, I bought it for $40 bucks at the Swatmeet. This post will help me a lot to start my RC to work. Thanks a lot.
