Is the vxl combo enough for this big ride?

What are your thoughts? I love the vxl combo, but will there be problems with heat due to the heavy/big nature of the vehicle?

its a slash 4x4 - if the slash 4x4 works - i think this will be fine. if the slash overheats - so will this one

i run a castle so i am not certain on the 4x4 vxl performance

my mistake - its 5 oz heavier

It will also have less airflow to the motor with the bigger, ground huggin body.

My slash plat 4x4 ran hot with this system. I was limited on gearing because of it, and that was 2s ....

Ive never been impressed with the VXL system in a 4X4... The MMP/3800kv combo would likely be alot better. Im thinking about an EZrun 2700kv 1/8 motor with an MMP...

Even the stampede VXL is known to get hot in stock form if its run hard.

Im leaning towards the MMP 3800 as well if i end up with one of these. the MMM would just be way too much lol

I have the VXL in a rustler and its great but in the 4x4s.....I now own 2 castle 3800 setups, I'm using the sct sidewinder esc and WOW! didnt think the VXL would have that much trouble aside from it being a 2 pole motor - less torque.

PAVMENTSURFER - dang, you swear by those EZrun systems! I see you use them alot, whats your feedback on them? PM when and if you get time would be great.

    Thanks

I have never had luck even with the 3800kv in my 4x4's and that's just on 2's, usually 1 pack and I'm done, but my driving style is pretty much WOT all over . I refuse to gear way down. SO, I threw in the 2400 and never looked back and my heatgun stays at home now. I used to watch it like a hawk with the 3500 vxl and cc 3800. I throw 3800's in my 2wd and 2400 in 4x4's.

I would like them to make the Rally Ultimate with the new 2400 blue motor that come's in the funny car. But my 2400/mmp will be good. Possibly to much.

I couldnt agree with ya more. I think they should start running that motor across the board in more of their models. I wonder if the cost of putting the system in the cars is the issue. It can't be no more than $100 more.

I think it would be a great combination myself. I have my eyes on a setup already.

Isn't the driveline supposed to be more efficient than the original 4x4 model? That would take some load off the VXL combo if so?

Also been considering the 2650 CC but any reason for it over the 2400 CC or vice versa?

i have that problem. honestly its way to underpowered to run heat free all day. i wish traxxas had as many brushless systems as nitro engines

This is what I dont like: we all know, that stock combo is to weak for a Slash 4x4, even with stock gearing, but they still put it in that Rally 1:10 car- WHY?
