what dose c mean on lipo battries?
big number C like 25C or 30C or 40C and the like are constant discharge rates,
the higher number after like 40C,50C and others are the burst discharge rates,
so say a pack says 25C-50C that's 25 constant and 50 burst discharge rates.
We use these figures to find out how many amps the lipo can put out. Pack capacity eg. 5000mah 20C-30C can supply 100A constant and 150A in a short burst for a few seconds.
5000x20/1000= 100A We use this figure and compare it against esc and motor specs, using 150A esc would damage the battery. An 80A esc would be better.
BUT SOME MANUFACTURES CLAIM HIGHER THAN WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES.
On the back of the pack is another C number either 1,2,5,8,12. or any others but is generally low. This is the charge rate that manufacturers say is the max amount to charge at 1C 5000mah pack would charge at 1Cx5000/1000= 5A. 2C 5000mah pack would charge at 2Cx5000/1000 = 10A.
It's often best to charge at 1C with the rare occasion if fast charge time is needed you can charge the C rated for that pack.

Very good info given couldn't have said it better saved me time from writing that lol. I usually charge at 1C-1.5C on my packs so I have 4000mah packs and charge at 4-6amps. 6amps when I am in a hurry.
