    Going to build a rally

    It will have

Xo -1 front and rear driveshafts
    Xo -1 differentials
    Xo -1 steering blocks
    Xo -1 rear axle carriers
    17mm hex
    Aluminum caster blocks
    Aluminum shock caps
    TiN shock shafts
    Center differential
    Castle 3800kv motor
    Sidewinder 8th
    Xq power 4020 servo
    Flysky radio system

I'm still undecided about an aluminum motor mount.

I will probably race in 4wd short course at my local track and I will try to get some rally races going in the area. It will also be ran on my personal track. I will also probably use it for on road racing and drifting.

    Anything I missed?

Vg chassis brace, tekno center driver shaft. I just got mine in today have not installed them yet but the material is solid, the drive shaft will be much better than the stock one.

Go with aluminum motor mount, it will help stiffen up and dissipate heat. There are lots to choose from but only two motor mounts that has larger bearings, KHZ or HR the rest uses stock bearing.

Motor mount should be #1 on your list. I like the KHZ version but hot racing makes nice stuff too. The oversize bearing is a must have. Also, if your going to run the truck hard, I think a FLM centre diff to be a good upgrade. I melted the stock plastic diff housing while drifting on pavement.

I think I will add the rpm bulkhead and an aluminum bellcrank to my list too. And maybe a chassis brace. The reason I am adding the bellcrank is because the plastic one never lasted in my p4de.

I ordered a sway bar kit for my stampede 4x4 but they sent a center diff. Not a bad deal for $15.50. I guess I have the first part to my puzzle. I still have to wait for my sway bars though.

I have my chassis dyed and I have the motor mount in. I decidednto deannodize the aluminum and go for a blacked out car with silver aluminum. I have also decided to use velcro for the battery strap. Any recommendations on how to put it on? I dont want to put holes in the bottom of my chassis and I dont know if the rpm nerf bars will have a slot to put the straps through. I have also decided to put rpm nerf bars on it.

I am still undecided on the esc. I know the sidewinder 8th will handle the load but im wondering if the mamba monster 2 will cog any less and be smoother in general with the 3800.

I'm not going to have a slipper in it yet. When I do decide to start drifting I will get a revo slipper with aluminum pads and an aluminum bearing adapter.

I used Pure Tech battery straps. The hold my 4S in my Sl4sh very nicely thru tons of abuse.

What I like about the Pure Tech straps is that you don't have to modify your chassis at all. I tried regular velcro and made 4 slits in the chassis to hold the battery, but the velcro kept ripping due to damage from coming into contact with the ground...

    [IMG][/IMG]

You can kinda see the Pure Tech straps in the second pic.

I just securely lodged the Velcro under the stock battery mounts that are screwed down on the truck. No cutting. Easy stuff. After dozens and dozens of hours of driving (i.e. crashing horribly), it hasn't in the slightest budged. And --- I'm driving 2650kV on 3s! Can you say, "Wheelie-city?"

    bumbers stock 24
    shocks stock 12
    sway bar upgrade 17
    shock towers stock 4
    screws stock 5
    reciever box stock 6
    motor/esc -Leopard-HW-1/8 upgrade 125
    17mm hex xo1 upgrade 23

Ive seen rollers on ebay for around $200 new. Then drop all your upgrades on one and you should be cheaper then $700....maybe around $500 total?

I agree with our reptilian friend. I bought a roller, a Lexan shell, shock upgrades, motor mount upgrades, rear Tekno shafts and a Castle Sidewinder 8th in it for about $550.

Pulled the trigger and made some compromises.

    Tower hobbies 440-75 coupon. 365
    Motor mount+ sway bar + bearing adapter= 50
Gtr shocks+reciever+xo1 diff for rear= 110 (20 bucks off 100 bucks coupon dollar hobbies)

    Selling radio+ esc+motor and buying HW/leapard 8th = break even hopefully

Run until stuff breaks. Have old takeoffs from rustler and 4x4 stampede parts I'll try to run through before upgrading driveshafts.

Also taking a gamble on dollar hobbies spektrum avc SRS4200 receiver for 30 bucks. They say it's not compatible outside of it's RTR stock esc. Worst case scenario i got a 4 channel receiver for 30 bucks. Best case i get a 100 dollar AVC receiver for 30.

upgrades in. Looks so good I don't want to get it dirty.

Traxxas Motor mount + bearing adapter
    XO1 read diff
XO1 drifshafts hubs/carriers/17mm adapters all around
    GTR shocks
    Traxxas sway bars
    Sweep rims/tires
Spektrum AVC receiver (still playing around with settings)

Future: 1/8 electronics + faster servo

Got my rpm nerf bars yesterday. I don't have any stock bars to compare them to but they are pretty solid with just enough flex to save the car in a sideways crash.

What shocks should I get? I expectto race offroad on a track for 10th scale vehicles and I plan on drifting and racing on road. I may also visit the skate park occasionally. I have never had a real problem with the ultra shocks but since this is a racer build if there is something better I may as well at least consider it.

Good bang for your buck are the Traxxas GTRs for the sl4sh on dollar hobbyz. For off road I put the rear springs on the front shocks and ordered the next stiffer spring for the rears. For on road I use the GTRs for the erevo with white or yellow springs.

I dont have any electronics yet. Now im thinking I will go with a mm2 and flux tork 2650kv motor. I will probably gear it 20/52 most of the time and run it on 2s. For speed runs and when I want to show off I will probably gear it at around 17/52. These are only my guesses. Before I get too much further on this build I want to put a new engine in my revo 3.3 for racing. I dont expect my rally to be ready until at least mid june. I just cant build that fast with a part time job earning $90 every 2 weeks.

    Here is how it sits.

After some further research I think I will probably get a neewer 2650kv motor and an hpi elc-6s esc. I can get both of them for under $200.

Looking around some more it appears thatbi cant have the rx box up front and have a chassis brace. Any ways around this?

I have a VG Racing chassis brace with the receiver box up front. I just used a battery extension cylinder and a longer screw to mount it over the brace.

Any pics of the brace/box setup. I'm playing with fitment of new motor and ESC and it looks like I will move receiver to the front.

My 2, any 2650Kv motor is going to be on 2S. You need at least 3S got the 2400 or especially a 1/8 2650Kv scale motor. Like I said tho, just my 2.
