    I say get the summit.
I think I've made it clear I'm going to get the Summit, but thanks for your input.

Ok, thanks guys! I'll look into getting the trenchers... In the mean time, does anyone have some pictures of a trencher on a Geode rim? Thanks!

Ok, more questions! After watching a few (or 100 ) videos on the Summit, it seems the rear shock springs are really soft, because the rear skid plate keep "slapping" the ground after a bump, or jump. What color spring rate should I get to fix that? Also, as most of you guys now know, me and my friends are creating our own personal rc car track. I'm planning on running my Summit it on it, (I know it's not a track car by anymeans, but it'll be fun anyway ) and I was wondering if any one has some advise on what kind of tunning adjustments I should make, and what parts or upgrades would help. I'm not looking to get new tires, I plan on using it for some crawling, and I don't want to upgrade the motor to brushless, and getting lipos are COMPLETLY out of the question, so don't EVEN TRY to convince me of getting them, I just can't. Thanks!

i loved the summit when i first got it. it was the first real rc i got for myself. Then i got a emaxx brushless and never played with it again it was just too slow after driving the emaxx(which is a beast) i really liked the summit when it was my only rc. are you gonna get the one that comes with lipos or without? i didn't know you could run that brushed motor with lipo's

You can run any motor with LiPo's.
Voltage is voltage... the motor could care less where the voltage comes from.

Here is what I did to my shocks:

Opps, sorry for the late response. I'm most likely going to get the normal nimh Summit, but we'll see. Ya, brushed motors can run lipos, it just makes the brushes in the motor wear out more quickly.

More questions... No one answerd this question...

The Summit is not a track car despite it's Erevo roots. My son likes to play around on the track. Firstly it likes to under steer when you're on the throttle. Tires were our first step, we installed Trenchers on Tech5 wheels. The steering became more responsive, but we lost an inch in overall width. The Trenchers were a compromise because I did not want to lose ground clearance. In retrospect for track time, a lower profile tire such as come on the ERBE would be better.
We lowered the body by trimming the posts, this helped us when climbing and bashing around. If you are serious about lowering your center of gravity, a lighter, lower body would be a good investment.
P2 rockers with Erevo length springs will help lower the chassis too. Don't forget to lengthen the pushrods when you go to the P2 rockers.

I guess overall, it's cheaper to mod a Summit to play on the track, than it would be to make a climber/crawler out of an Erevo.

Wow, thanks, that's just the kind of info I was looking for! I really don't plan on getting to serious about running my Summit of track, I just want it to be "some what" good at it. I like the Summit "as is" is stock form, but I might buy some Trencher tires for it down the road.

Got another question! Is going brushless worth it? I like the idea of more power and a little run time, but I don't like the idea of spending $200+ on a brushless system. I'll most likely go with the DeWalt, but is brushless any good? Pros/Cons? Thanks guys!

    Pros
    Faster .....much faster
Longer runtime depending on driving style.
    Cons
Much faster ...and gets there very quickly sometimes too quickly
Not waterproof without some effort and maybe voiding the warranty
    Harder on parts...see (con #1)
Can cause you to become a idiot when operating the truck leading to monumentally stupid decisions

Here's a money saving tip, switch the springs from front to back. Summit come stock with stiff front and softer rear so why not switch them to see if it gets the job done. I did that to mine and happy with the outcome. I also put a lot of preload on mine cuz I like an aggressive stance. (btw if u do switch springs front to back do the whole shock, it's faster and easier than removing the spring)

Ok, I was planning on getting the double orange springs, I didn't realize the Summit comes with them in the front. If I put the front's springs in the rear, won't it make the front too soft though?

Double ORANGE all around is superior to having double yellow on either end, even without a winch on the front.

    EDITED for correction.

And in my opinion dbl orange all around is superior to any of the other 3 variations involving dbl yellow. Just my $.02

I agree. What's good for one is not good for all. I have tried all yellow and yellow fore and aft opposing orange respectively. My summit is quite heavy, though. With all the weight mine carries it rides like a stock summit with yellows all the way around...so orange for me was the way to go.

And I don't bash with the summit. It's all slow goin.

    hahahaha.

Im playing with Yellow/Yellow vs Orange/Orange right now. Seeing if i can "really" feel a difference.
Running with TrencherX's on Desperados and a full Tbone skid kit. Stock otherwise.

With the double orange what are they like without any preload? does it still reduce squat?
Or do you have to put a bit of preload to notcie the difference?

You will see a difference simply going from double yellow to double orange. It reduces squat right away.
