So I have the standard radio and receiver that came with my Revo 2.5R many years ago.
Since I have done a brushless conversion the range is terrible.
Here are some things I've tried:
- Using different crystals
- Using a different radio
- Using a different radio and transmitter
- Wrapping the receiver in tin foil
- Checked antenna wire and it is fine
I'm fairly convinced that it is due to noise from the ESC, I've tried routing the cables a bit differently with no difference.
Please note both receivers and transmitters are from fairly old nitro cars. All I can think is that they are not designed to filter the noise generated by the new electronics.
Any advice or help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I am assuming you have only tested with AM radio equipment...
If so, AM and brushless do not play well together. This is why most (if not all) brushless RTR RC's come with FM radios as standard equipment.
That being said... I have a FM 8 channel radio for sale. lol
Sorry for the shameless advertisement!
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
Yeah it's still the old 27MHz AM stuff. My next step was to just buy a 2.4GHz system :-/
Guess it's a go then
