    Aluminum Steering system/Servo Saver

Does anyone know if there is an aluminum servo saver/bellcrank for the xo-1?

Hot Racing makes one for the Slash 4x4. Only difference between the stock XO and Slash 4x4 steering systems is the drag link. All other parts are the same part numbers. You would have to reuse your drag link.

I don't think they are the same. slash 4x4 steering linkage is on the driver side and XO-1 is on the passenger side. I tried reversing my XO at one time cause I accidentally drilled my chassis wrong and I'm out of luck

Last time I looked, I could have sworn they use the same part numbers. Maybe I'm wrong.

judging on the pics I think its how you position the steering link (slash left or XO right) arm so yeah maybe they are the same but the drag link.

sorry seems like only one pic comes thru. This is the slash aluminum servo set with a aluminum drag link made for the xo-1. You have to reposition the servo and relocate the radio box. I used a slash radio box and mounted it to the side. I also used the aluminum slash control arms as well as they are identical.

Thanks for the pics. How much steering slop is removed through this mod?

All of it. The stock setup was pretty noticeable especially the left side of the linkage. The other nice thing is the servo saver spring tension is adjustable

    Nice work gbickford

Personally I would like to see a bolt on replacement that does not require configuration changes

Ya me too. I added 3 more photos showing the receiver box location. It was actually pretty easy to install. I drilled and counter sunk two holes for the servo mounts and thats about it. Total cost was the main thing. For everything it came to $72 thats the steering kit, drag link, radio box, servo horn and servo mounts.

I bet it's easier to work with that rx box vs the stock one.

Ya it worked out pretty well. The radio box is from the slash ultimate. Still have to drill hole for the antenna.

There was a thread a while back, where it was said the STRC aluminum bell crank for the LCG Slash could be used if you changed the drag link. However a person reported back he tried it and it did not work....

Bringing this back to the top. Will the STRC slash 4x4 bell crank kit work for this mod?

It will work but in order to get it to be all aluminum and remove all the slop your will need the same drag link I used. Currently they are out of stock from high gear rc but I will keep checking ebay for them to be relisted. You will also have to reposition the servo and use independent mounts, but it gives you an excuse to change the radio box and relocate that as well. I used a slash ultimate radio box.

^^^ Wait, wasn't there also configuration changes required, like moving the Rx box, and running the servo at a different angle? I mean I'm glad it works and all, but it should be clearly understood by all interested what is fully required to make it work.
