Mixing parts for a custom car

So I was thinking about something this week. I had this idea that since the 1/16 revo, summit, and slash all use the same chassis, I could use that chassis, and put any arms, bumpers, and body on it. I think it would be cool to have a summit body with slash arms and wheels with summit front bumper and a revo rear bumper. I don't know if this will work tho because I don't know if all the parts interchange? Can anyone help me out and tell me what parts will swap over between models and which parts won't?

it could work. if you want you can use slash arms up front, revo arms on the rear and a rally bumper at the front.
Whatever you are, be a good one.

You'd have to notch out the back of the Summit body if you want to run the wing...... also, not sure how the wheel wells are gonna fit around slash tires since they were not designed to do that - more hacking may be required
There are lots of ways to do that. Most are wrong.

Is the rally also from this same family of cars?

ALL Traxxas 1/16ths share 95%+ of the same parts...
The only rules that apply are
if you have short arms (rally/mustang/slash) you must use short rods and axles
if you use long arms (summit/revo/digger) you must use long rods and axles

and of course, clearance issues with tires.

If you are going to run it, I also strongly suggest the same size tire at every corner.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

Ha, different size tires with a 4wd car would not work too well

Speaking about clearance... I just got a set of mini vendetta pin tires. Guess what. They dont fit! I was sure they would. They can go on but I cant steer. A whole $3 wasted. Maybe I can put them on e bay for $10. Brand new and 50% off retail.

    Yes.
Be aware that some bumpers attach to the front skid plate.
And that you may need mounts.

Each model has an exploded view... I suggest studying the model that the parts belong to, making sure that you have all that you need.

if steering clearance is the issue you could probly get some wheel extenders?
