    VXL motor combo gearing

So I am putting my old vxl in my currently brushed slash, this is my first 2wd and with the 4x4s I know you really shouldnt gear past stock, but I was thinking with a 2wd maybe there is less strain on the motor and I could gear better. First question is what is the stock gearing for a velineon system on the 2wd, and what is a good gearing for the vxl? also does putting the vxl require the removal of the slipper?

I ran mine at 19/90 mainly occasionally 23/86, n slipper a quarter to half turn out from tight.

You can gear as high as motor temps will allow. get an IR temp device:

If you can push the truck for a full battery and keep motor temps under 160, the velineon motor will last forever
You will have to adjust to a smaller pinion in summer

Rc REV has a great point also.
The slipper setting has a lot to do with motor temps. A locked down slipper bashing hard on rough surfaces on a hot day is a recipe for a very hot motor. If you run that slipper a bit loose you can drop temps a bunch on hot days.

Stick with 2s. If you want 3s, go to the castle combos 3800(krazy on 3s), or 2400(Great on 3s, absolutely nuts on 4s).

Yeah I will need to pick one of those up I guess. The attitude here is way different than the 4x4 side usually people will just tell you not to hear up or anything because you're motor will explode taking you and the surrounding of 50 miles haha. Well I honestly just wanted one gearing that should be okay with temps, like a setup that will run 3s fine but won't be a slouch on 2s( which I will mainly run ). I will have to consider the temp device. I don't want to upgrade because I am putting the 2400kv in my rally, and the vxl is what will be left over. thanks for the awesome advice.
